Turfgrass Specialist Presents Program At Extension Service

Thursday, May 19th join the Yalobusha County Extension Service for a Lunch and Learn starting at noon. The topic is “So Your Grass is Greener than mine…So what?”  Dr. Wayne Wells, Extension Turfgrass Specialist, will present this program, which is free and open to the public.  Please call the Extension office at 675-2730 if you plan to attend.

Rounsaville Group Announces Final Reunion  

The North Miss. Rounsaville Group will hold its FINAL reunion beginning at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 18, at Western Sizzlin’ Steak House in Grenada. All Rounsaville descendants  and friends are invited to attend this final get-together. For more information, call 662-226-6975 or 662-227-9804.

NWCC Offers Summer Fun Classes In Senatobia

Northwest Mississippi Community College’s Division of Continuing Education is offering summer fun classes in June for school age children through its Kid’s Kollege program on the Senatobia campus.

Art Camp, Tennis Camp, Soccer Camp, Picture This!, Science Exploration and Creations, Amazing Animals: Inside and Out, and the Viking Cooking School Pizza Galore trip are among the offerings.

 Masonic Chapters Change May Meeting Date

    McConico Chapter No. 96 RAM and J.J. Melton Council No. 50 meeting dates for the month of May only have been changed to Thursday, May 19, due to the Grand York Rite Bodies Meeting in Meridian. The meeting time has also been changed to 7:30 p.m. from now until October. All members of these two Masonic Bodies are encouraged to attend.

Class Of 1991 Set Meeting To Plan Class Reunion

  All members of the Water Valley High School Class of 1991 are encouraged to attend a class reunion planning meeting Tuesday, May 24, beginning at 6 p.m. The meeting will be held at Yalobusha General Hospital in the Administration Conference Room.

Yalobusha Giants Schedule Friday Roadblock

  The Yalobusha Giants will hold a road block Friday, May 20, from 4-7 p.m. to raise money for their trip to the 8U AAA world series in Gulf Shores, Alabama.

Pleasant Green M.B. Church Will Hold Baccalaureate Service

 A Baccalaureate Service will be held at Pleasant Green M.B. Church Sunday, May 22, at 3 p.m. The afternoon speaker will be Dr. Preston Gleeton, Sr.

  All graduates, parents, churches, and pastors are welcome to attend and be a part of this service.

VFW Hosts Memorial Day Ceremony On May 30

  V.F. W. Post 4100, located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley, will have a Memorial Day Ceremony May 30, beginning at 11 a.m. at the monument on Main Street.

  In case of bad weather the ceremony will be held in the Post Home.

  After the ceremony there will be a free lunch at the Post Home. “The community is invited to attend the ceremony and the lunch,” stated Commander Sam Phillips.

Adams Performs At VFW Dance

    The regular VFW Post 4100 Saturday Night Dance will be held May 21, in the Post Home, located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley. Entertainment will be provided by Jason Adams Band from 8 p.m. until midnight. “Everyone is invited to come out and enjoy listening, or dancing, to the music,” says Commander Sam Phillips.

VFW Schedules Friday Bingo

  VFW Bingo will be played Friday night, May 20. Come out and join VFW Post 4100 for a fun filled evening of bingo at their Post Home, located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley. The building opens at 5:30 p.m., sales start at 6, and the first of 24 games begins at 7. You must be at least 18 years of age to play.

May 27 Is Deadline To Purchase Ad In Watermelon Carnival Program

  The Water Valley Area Chamber of Commerce is presently selling advertisements for the 2011 Watermelon Carnival Program. If you would like to place an ad in this program call the Chamber Office at 473-1122.

  The last day to place an ad is Friday, May 27.

Grief Support Offered At Church

  A grief support group meeting will be held at Woodland Hills Baptist Church, 1710 North  Main Street, Water Valley, May 23 and 24.  The schedule will be 6:30-7:15 p.m., greet and meet over a light meal provided by Unity volunteers; with a break from 7:15-7:30; and the support program from 7:30-8-30, each night. The meeting is for adults who have suffered a loss from a death.

  Sponsors of this program are Larry Wicker, M.Div., Unity Hospice Care Chaplain, and Linda Glick Schmitz, RN, Unity Hospice Care Director of Education, with certification in death and grief studies.
