Bobby Hood Band Performs At Saturday Night VFW Dance
The regular VFW Post 4100 Saturday Night Dance will be held this week on May 28 at the Post Home located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley. Entertainment will be provided by the Bobby Hood Band from 8 p.m. until midnight. “Everyone is invited to come out and enjoy listening, or dancing, to the music,” says Commander Sam Phillips.
VFW Hosts Friday Bingo Action
VFW Bingo will be played Friday night, May 27. Come out and join VFW Post 4100 for a fun filled evening of Bingo at their Post Home located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley. The building opens at 5:30 p.m., sales start at 6, and the first of 24 games begins at 7. You must be at least 18 years of age to play.
May 27 Is Deadline To Purchase Ad In Watermelon Carnival Program
The Water Valley Area Chamber of Commerce is presently selling advertisements for the 2011 Watermelon Carnival Program. If you would like to place an ad in this program call the Chamber Office at 473-1122.
The last day to place an ad is Friday, May 27.
City Garbage Route Runs Monday, Offices Will Close
All City of Water Valley offices and departments will be closed Monday, May 30, for Memorial Day holiday. Monday’s garbage route will run as usual.
Bruce Television Station Broadcasts Political Program
W07BN/TV-7 is hosting a series of “Meet Your Candidate” programs on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday evenings beginning Friday, June 3 for Yalobusha County candidates. The programs will be broadcast live from the TV-7 studio in Bruce and on Metrocast Cable Channel 98 throughout the viewing area as well as streaming on-line via w07bn.com or Facebook.com/tv7bruce. Other tentative dates for Yalobusha County candidate appearances will be June 10, 17, and 24, and July 1, 8,15, and 22.
Rounsaville Group Announces Final Reunion

VFW Hosts Memorial Day Ceremony On May 30
V.F. W. Post 4100, located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley, will have a Memorial Day Ceremony May 30, beginning at 11 a.m. at the monument on Main Street.
In case of bad weather the ceremony will be held in the Post Home.
After the ceremony there will be a free lunch at the Post Home. “The community is invited to attend the ceremony and the lunch,” stated Commander Sam Phillips.
Baptist Association Office Schedules Office Closing
The Yalobusha Baptist Associational Office will be closed the week of May 30-June 3 for vacation.
Class Of 1991 Set Meeting To Plan Class Reunion
All members of the Water Valley High School Class of 1991 are encouraged to attend a class reunion planning meeting Tuesday, May 24, beginning at 6 p.m. The meeting will be held at Yalobusha General Hospital in the Administration Conference Room.
Davidson Elementary Offers Free Summer Meals June 6 – July 1
Free summertime meals will be available to all kids 18 years and younger. The meals will be served at Davidson Elementary School, 207 Goode Street, Water Valley from June 6 through July 1. Serving times will be from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. each day.
