Mark Your Calendar For Tillatoba Political Rally

    Tillatoba Volunteer Fire Department is having a political rally on June 25, starting at 1 p.m. Candidates will be speaking, there will be a cake auction, and hamburger plates with chips and drink, for $6, hot dog and chips with drink for $4, or sausage and chips with drink for $6 will be available.

    All politicians are asked to make a donation to speak. A PA system and audience will be provided.

    A raffle of $250 will be given away for a $2 donation per chance. You can get tickets from any Tillatoba firefighter and at the rally. Drawing will be after the candidates speak. You do not have to be present to win.

Gibson, Godwin, Prescott, Van Winkle Family Reunion Is June 26

The Gibson – Godwin – Prescott – Van Winkle family reunion will be held Sunday, June 26, at the Wrangler Camp Ground in the Fords Well Community located off Hwy. 32 on CR 557 about six miles east of the I-55 Water Valley/Oakland exit. Lunch will be held at 1 p.m. at pavilion site #665. Bring your favorite dish or dishes to share, said Vida Gibson Corley, who asked that you RSVP (662) 226-2600.

Benefit Program Set For Five Time Cancer Survivor

    A benefit program will be held Saturday, July 2, for Teresa (Tee Tee) Kincaide Moore, who is a five time cancer survivor that is currently in the hospital getting treatments for leukemia. She is a member of Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church, where Rev. James Wright is her pastor.

    The benefit will be held in the Mt. Moriah Building in Coffeeville, starting at 6 p.m. Please contact Rev. Bobbie Willis, sister of Tee Tee, at (662) 417-4979 if you have any questions.

Arts Council Schedules Camp For Children

    The Water Valley Arts Council will hold an art camp for children ages  5 – 12 on July 11-15 . A $50 tuition fee will include materials and snacks. A limited number of full scholarships are available. Registration will end as soon as classes have filled, so don’t delay! Pick up registration forms at Turnage Drug Store, the B.T.C., White Star, or the Main Street Office. For additional information call  473-9851 and ask for Ramona.

VFW Ladies Auxiliary Thanks Community For Helping Raley

    The VFW Ladies Auxiliary express their thanks to the community for participating in the House Warming Party for Barbara Raley, held Saturday, June 18, in VFW Post 4100’s Home on Highway 315. She received nice gifts and donations, all of which were appreciated.

    A special thanks to the businesses of Water Valley who donated to assist in this party: Magnolia Home Furnishing, Doris’ Flowers and Gifts, The Velvet Glove; and Hair Trendz.     “God bless your new home, Barbara,” The Ladies Auxiliary reported.

Bobby Hood Band Will Entertain At VFW Dance

    The regular VFW Post 4100 Saturday Night Dance will be held this week on June 25 in the Post Home, located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley. Entertainment will be provided by the Bobby Hood Band from 8 p.m. until midnight.     “Everyone is invited to come out and enjoy listening, or dancing, to the music,” said Commander Sam Phillips.

VFW Bingo Is Cancelled Friday

    Bingo will not be played this Friday night at VFW Post 4100’s Home. Bingo will again be played on Friday night, July 1.

Annual Stewart Reunion Is Scheduled July 9

    The 32nd annual Stewart Reunion will be held Saturday, July 9, in the Masonic Temple, 122 Champion Circle, just off Highway 7 South in Water Valley. Registration will begin at 10 a.m. Those attending are ask to bring a pot luck dish to share at noon. If you have any questions contact Patricia at 473-4788.

Mason Meeting Set For Thursday

    St. Cyr Commandry No. 6 will hold its next stated Conclave on Thursday, June 23, in the Masonic Temple on Champion Circle. All members are hereby reminded that the meeting time has been changed back to 7:30 p.m. from now until October.. All members are also asked to support your Commandry by making a special effort to attend. Your help and support is needed during the coming year.

Learn Success And Pitfalls Of Working At Home

    Dr. Bobbie Shaffett from MSU Extension Family Resource Management will present  “Work @ Home: Schemes, Scams, & Skills,” on June 23, at noon in the Multi-Purpose Building in Coffeeville.

Calhoun County Extension Service Announces County Fair

The Calhoun County Fair will be held July 18-23 at the county fair grounds in Pittsboro. Among the events will be a “Fairest of the Fair” pageant, big watermelon contest, round robin roping, pea shelling competition, pet show, youth cook-off, and baking contest.
