Calhoun County Extension Service Announces County Fair
The Calhoun County Fair will be held July 18-23 at the county fair grounds in Pittsboro. Among the events will be a “Fairest of the Fair” pageant, big watermelon contest, round robin roping, pea shelling competition, pet show, youth cook-off, and baking contest. Yalobusha 4-H, Saddle Club To Hold Political Rally
The Yalobusha County 4-H Horse Club and Coffeeville Saddle Club is having a political rally on July 9, starting at 1 p.m. Candidates will speak, and there will be a cake auction.
A Tri-Lakes Speed Show will follow at 5 p.m. The concession stand will be open for lunch and throughout the speaking and horse show. The public is encouraged to come out and listen to the candidates and stay for the horse show.
Arts Council Seeks Local Artists To Display Work At Renasant Bank
The Water Valley Arts Council is looking for artists to display their work at the Renasant Bank in Water Valley.

Tri-Lakes Hosts Political Rally
The Tri-Lakes Fair-grounds Association will host the anticipated political rally on Saturday, July 16.
Local and state candidates have been invited to the event, which will be held at the gazebo in City Park on North Main Street in Water Valley. The action starts at 6 p.m.

Learn About Prescribed Burning At Forestry Association Meeting
The Yalobusha Forestry Association will meet Thursday, July 7 at 5:30 p.m. The topic will be on prescribed burning. A meal will be served. Please contact the Extension Office at 675-2730 to reserve your spot.
Come Enjoy A ‘Hawaiian Luau’ At Kids In The Kitchen Program
On Friday, July 8 the Yalobusha County Extension Service will host a Kids in the Kitchen Program. The theme of this one will be “Hawaiian Luau.” Organizers will make some delicious dishes for the luau, as well as play fun games and learn some very good safety tips for working in the kitchen. Candidates Invited To Paris Fire Department’s Political Rally
A political rally will be held at the Paris Volunteer Fire Department July 23, beginning at 5 p.m. The building is air-conditioned. Hot dogs and hamburgers will be available. All candidates are invited to speak and everyone is invited to attend.
Valley City Lodge Announces July 7 Meeting
Valley City Lodge No. 402 F&AM will hold its next stated Communication Thursday, July 7, in the Masonic Temple on Champion Circle. All members are hereby reminded that the meeting time has been changed back to 7:30 p.m. from May through October. All members are urged to be present for this meeting and to support your lodge.
Order Of Eastern Star Schedules July 12 Meeting

Pleasant Agers Set Monthly Meeting Date For July 20
Pleasant Agers will have their monthly meeting July 20 in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, located on CR 231, four miles west of Bruce, across the railroad on the left. A potluck lunch will be served at noon. The guest speaker will be Miss Barbara Raley from Drivers Flat Baptist Church. Pastor Ron Jenkins invites everyone to attend.
LAST CHANCE To Sign Up For Arts Council Camp For Children
The Water Valley Arts Council will hold an art camp for children ages 5 to 12 on July 11-15. A $50 tuition fee will include materials and snacks. A limited number of full scholarships are available. Annual Stewart Reunion Is Scheduled July 9
The 32nd annual Stewart Reunion will be held Saturday, July 9, in the Masonic Temple, 122 Champion Circle, just off Highway 7 South in Water Valley. Registration will begin at 10 a.m. Those attending are ask to bring a pot luck dish to share at noon. For questions contact Patricia at 473-4788.
Canning Course Offered For Beginners And Experts
On Tuesday, July 19 at 1 p.m. the Yalobusha Extension Service will offer a canning program. If you are just starting to can or you have been canning for a while and just want a refresher course, this is the class for you.
Attendees will discuss basic equipment, places to get reliable recipes and we will discuss the different types of pressure canners as well as see how they work. If you are interested in attending this class please contact the Extension Office at 675-2730 to register.
Friends Of Oakland Sponsor Political Rally
The Friends of Oakland are sponsoring a political rally in the Oakland Community Center (formerly Oakland Presbyterian Church) July 23, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Food will be sold. Music will begin at 9 a.m. Featured on the musical program will be Daryl Burney and The Sharecroppers and the Parish Grove Male Chorus.

Learn About ‘Treasures From Teasdale’ At Quilt Show And Program
A quilt show and program will be held at the Oakland Public Library July 15, beginning at 3 p.m. Everyone is invited to come out and meet Virginia Murphree of the Teasdale Quilters who will discuss “Treasurers from Teasdale.” Those attending are invited to bring their favorite quilt for displaying.
