The Water Valley Arts Council is looking for artists to display their work at the Renasant Bank in Water Valley.

Water Valley Summer Band Camp Continues Through July 28
Water Valley Schools Band Camp began this week with Guard/Percussion Camp Monday through Thursday, July 18-21, from 9 until 12 in the morning. The full band will report Friday, July 22, at 8 a.m. and will practice until 4 p.m.
The camp will continue next week with the full band, Monday through Thursday, July 25-28, from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m., according to Keith Morgan, Band Director.
Candidates Invited To Paris Fire Department’s Political Rally
A political rally will be held at the Paris Volunteer Fire Department July 23, beginning at 5 p.m. The building is air-conditioned. Hot dogs and hamburgers will be available. All candidates are invited to speak and everyone is invited to attend.

Yalobusha Historical Society Schedules July Meeting
The Yalobusha County Historical Society will meet Thursday, July 21, 2011 at 2 p.m. in the Presbyterian Church in Coffeeville. The guest speaker will be Sherry Worsham. Her topic will be Oakland and Tallahatchie County.
Friends Of Oakland Sponsor Political Rally
The Friends of Oakland are sponsoring a political rally in the Oakland Community Center (formerly Oakland Presbyterian Church) July 23, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Food will be sold. Music will begin at 9 a.m. Featured on the musical program will be Daryl Burney and The Sharecroppers and the Parish Grove Male Chorus.

WV All Class Get Together Set For Carnival Weekend
Water Valley School Alumni are invited to an “all class” get together to be held in conjunction with the Watermelon Carnival. The gathering will take place in the First Christian Church Activities Center on North Main Street Aug. 6, beginning at 5:30 p.m. Please contact Viola Moore at (662) 473-1337 or (662) 473-8434 to RSVP. “We need to know if you are coming, so we can plan the food and drinks accordingly,” Moore said. Attendees are requested to bring a dish along with photos and memorabilia from the good old days.

Town And County Garden Club Sponsors Annual Music Festival
The 18th Watermelon Music Festival, sponsored by the Town and Garden Club, will be held Thursday, August 4, in the Civic Auditorium. At 7 p.m. music by the Sharecroppers begins, followed by the program at 7:30.
Tickets for $7 may be purchased at Turnage Drug Store, the Chamber of Commerce Office, from garden club members, or call Mary Lou Jones at 473-1482. Proceeds from the event will pay for flowers for the 21 Main Street planters and Railroad Park landscaping.
Jeff Davis School Reunion Set For August
The Jeff Davis School Reunion will be held at Bethel Baptist Church in the fellowship hall on Saturday, August 6, beginning at 6 p.m. All students, families, and friends are invited to attend. Those attending are asked to bring a covered dish and come join the fun and fellowship.
Children, Ages 8 to 18, Invited To Attend August Sewing Camp
A two-day 4-H sewing camp for children ages 8-18 will be held August 8 and 9 and 10 and 11, from 3:30-5:30. “Come and join us. We will be making pillow cases,” invites Mary Mason Furr. Class of 1982 Will Collect Classmate Information At Carnival
The Water Valley High School Class of 1982 will have a tent at the Watermelon Carnival again this year. They will be there Friday, August 5, and Saturday, August 6, located in front of the First Christian Church Activities Center—same location as last year.
The class is still trying to collect information on some classmates that they have not been able to get in touch with or find. If you have contact information for any of the classmates who do not live in the WV area, please come by and let those helping with the upcoming reunion get in touch with them before the 30th Class Reunion next year.
