Annual Concert In Honor Of Farmer Set For Sept. 8
Viola Long Farmer was killed in a tragic accident on her birthday in 2010 when an ambulance struck the car in which she was a passenger.
She was funeralized on the day in which her church was having a special concert that she had helped organize, featuring gospel recording artists and local singers. The pastor and members decided to go on with the concert after the service despite the obvious void.
During her home going service, Pastor Larry J. Hervey, announced that the concert would be held each year on the same Saturday, the second Saturday in September, in her honor.
As resolved this year’s concert will be held Saturday, September 8, beginning at 6 p.m. in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.
“Everyone is invited to join in a night of praise, featuring Men on a Mission, the Mighty Gospel Warriors, the Gospel Lites, Pastor Hervey & Truly Blessed, Cheryl Bobo, and more,” stated Pastor Hervey, host, and Pastor Jermanique Mitchell, facilitator.
