Bozarts Gallery Hosts Reading Of Fiction And Poetry

Bozarts Gallery will host a reading of fiction and poetry by Chris Offutt and Melissa Ginsburg on Friday, Sept. 7 at 7 p.m.
The husband and wife team teach at Ole Miss and have published stories, memoirs, and poetry. Offutt has also produced films and written for the TV series “True Blood.”  The public is invited and the event is free of charge. Bozarts Gallery is located at 403 N. Main.

Annual Pine Valley Reunion Is Sept. 15

 The annual Pine Valley School Reunion will be held the 3rd Saturday in September, which will be the 15th of the month. Visiting will begin at 10 a.m.
    “Everyone is invited—you do not have to be a former school member,” stated Joni Camp, Publicity Chairperson. Lunch will be served at noon, and everyone attending is invited to bring your favorite dish to share. “Come out and have a good visit and lunch,” concluded Camp.

Oakland Library Friends Host  Program At Ford’s Well

  Everyone is invited to join Oakland Public Library Friends at Ford’s Well where Mike Robinson will present a program on the history of Enid Lake Wednesday, September 12, at noon. Friends of the Library say join them for a picnic, where in the early 1900s as many as 400-500 people attended the Fourth of July picnics.  Maps to Ford’s Well are available at the Oakland Public Library.

Come Play Bingo At The VFW

    VFW bingo will be played on Monday and Friday nights, September 7 and 10. Come out and join VFW Post 4100 for a fun filled evening of bingo at their Post Home, located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley. The building opens at 2 p.m. on Monday, Friday and Saturday, for those wishing to play the electronic VLC bingo machines. Regular bingo session sales start at 6 p.m, and the first of 24 games begins at 7 p.m. You must be at least 18 years of age to play.


Rick Fowler Band Performs At VFW

  The regular VFW Post 4100 Saturday night dance will be held this week, September 8, in the Post Home, located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley. Entertainment will be provided by the Rick Fowler Band from 8 p.m. until midnight.    
    The doors open at 2 p.m. for action with the electronic VLC bingo machines.

Art Crawl Participants Needed

The Water Valley Arts Council’s fourth annual Art Crawl will be held Saturday, September 29. If you have a home studio that you would like to have included on this year’s Crawl, or if you’d like to share space in one of our other arts locations, please call Ramona Bernard at 473-9851.

 Valley City Lodge Sets Meeting Date

  Valley City Lodge No. 402 F&AM will hold its next stated Communication on Thursday, September 6, beginning at 7:30 p.m.,  in the Masonic Temple, located on Champion Circle. All members are requested to be present to support your local Lodge.
WVHS Annuals Have Arrived
  The 2011-2012 Water Valley High School Valley Views annuals have arrived. If you prepaid for an annual in the spring, you may see Mrs. King at the high school to pick up your annual. If you did not purchase one, and wish to do so, there are a few extras for $55 each.

Pleasant Agers Serve Potluck Lunch

  Pleasant Agers will meet Wednesday, September 19, in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. A potluck lunch will be served at noon. Guest speaker will be Rev. Jay Parks, pastor of Antioch Baptist Church.
    Pastor Ron Jenkins invites everyone to attend this program. The church is located four miles west of Bruce on CR 231, across the prior railroad, on the left.
 

Wrestling Benefits Family Readiness Group For 289th

  Maximum Champion Wrestling will have a fundraiser for the 289th FRG, Bruce and Water Valley Units, Saturday, September 15. This event will be held in the Bruce National Guard Armory, located on Highway 9 at Bruce. The doors will open at 6 p.m. and bell time is 7. General admission will be $8. Everyone is invited to come out and support our troops. For more information call 473-7757.


Order Of Eastern Star Meets Sept. 11

  Water Valley Chapter No. 5, Order of the Eastern Star, will have their next meeting Tuesday, September 11, beginning at 7:30 p.m. in the Masonic Temple, located on Champion Circle.
