Art Talk

By Andi Bedsworth

Christmas is on its way, and there are several events planned for this weekend that will help you get in the holiday spirit and since they are all on Main Street on the same night, it will be easy to take it all in.
A Christmas tradition for local art lovers is the Holiday Miniatures Show at Bozarts Gallery. This favorite exhibition is now in its fifth year and has become a holiday tradition. The Miniatures Show features a large variety of work in all media including painting, sculpture, pottery, glass, jewelry, photography, print making, wood and metal work, fabric and silk screen, and other artistic expressions. This year, more than 30 artists will participate. Though not technically “miniatures” all works will be small, original, and for sale in time for the holidays.
The reception will be held from 6-9pm on Friday, Nov. 30th, and there will be live music from Dutch and Bijou as well as a children’s art activity from 6-8pm by Art To Go. On Saturday the gallery will be open before the parade and another children’s activity will be held from noon-1pm to occupy the little ones before the Christmas parade which will roll down Main Street at 1pm. Visit the gallery on Tuesdays thru Saturdays, noon to 5pm through December 21st.
Down the street at 303 Main is the fun show, 102 Peaches: Art Show and Sweepstakes with art by Mike Howard. There will be an opening reception and prize drawing at Yalo Studio from 6-9pm, and all artist proceeds will go to the Pasaquan Preservation Society. All the peach paintings have been sold, and each has been numbered. That number will be put in a drawing for great prizes including a weekend in New Orleans, a television set, coffee pot, and many more. This festive show will be followed by an after party at Rounders on Main Street with DJ, Matt Patton who will be playing music from his vast collection.
