WVAC Seeks Artists To Display At Renasant Bank Rotating Show

The Water Valley Arts Council is looking for artists to exhibit their work at Renasant Bank in Water Valley.
    Painting, collage, photography, drawing, and textile media would be a welcome addition to the walls of Renasant Bank. There is no charge for exhibiting work. All work must be ready to hang(frames, wires for hanging).

Coffeeville Christmas Parade Rolls Through Town December 8

    It’s Christmas parade time again and the Coffeeville Woman’s League invites the public to participate in this year’s annual parade. The date is set for December 8, at 2 p.m. in downtown Coffeeville.
    The League encourages all businesses, organizations and churches to participate to make this year’s parade even more successful than last year. Entry categories include: floats (decorated trailer of any size), antique cars, walking units (Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, church carolers, etc.), emergency vehicles (police, fire trucks), motorcycles and horses.

Pleasant Agers Meet December 19

  Pleasant Agers will meet Wednesday, December 19, in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Calhoun County, on CR 231 across the railroad on the left. There will be a Christmas potluck lunch at noon. Rev. Justin Gates will be ministering in music and song. Pleasant Agers invites everyone to attend.

Wrestling Superstars Present Christmas Fundraiser For Troops

  Maximum Champion Wrestling Superstars will present “Santa Claus is Coming to Town,” a fundraiser for Support Our Troops. The event will be held in the Bruce National Guard Armory Saturday, December 8, with the doors opening a 6 p.m. and bell time at 7. General Admission will be $8, and the proceeds will benefit the 289th NCO.

Valley City Lodge Holds Next Stated Communication

  Valley City Lodge No. 402 F&AM will hold its next stated Communication Thursday, December 6, beginning at 7 p.m., in the Masonic Temple on Champion Circle. All members are requested to be present and support your local lodge.

Order of Eastern Star Sets Date For December Meeting

  Water Valley Chapter No. 5, Order of the Eastern Star, will have their next meeting Tuesday, December 11, beginning at 7:30 p.m., in the Masonic Temple on champion Circle. Please make an effort to attend if you are a member.

Come Shake A Leg At VFW’s Saturday Night Dance

  The regular VFW Post 4100 Saturday night dance will be held this week on December 8 in the Post Home, located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley. Entertainment will be provided by Rick Fowler from 8 p.m. until midnight.         “Everyone is invited to come out and enjoy listening, or dancing, to the music,” says Commander Sam Phillips. For those interested in playing the electronic VLC bingo machines, the doors will open at 2 p.m.

VFW Bingo Action Continues On Monday And Friday Nights

    VFW bingo will be played on Monday and Friday nights, December 7 and 10. Come out and join VFW Post 4100 for a fun filled evening of bingo at their Post Home, located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley. The building opens at 2 p.m. on Monday, Friday, and Saturday for electronic VLC Bingo Machines. Regular bingo session sales start at 6 p.m. and the first of 24 games begins at 7. You must be at least 18 years of age to play.

YHS  Sets December Meeting Date

    The Yalobusha Historical Society will meet Thursday, December 13 at 2 p.m. in its headquarters, (former Presbyterian Church) in Coffeeville.  Jackie Wiebly will present a program of favorite holiday songs.  Visitors are welcome.

Ross Hosts Holiday Hoopin’ Clinic

WNBA Coach Carol Ross, a native of Oakland, will hold a free Holiday Hoopin’ basketball clinic Saturday, Dec. 15, from 10 a.m. until noon at the old Walker Gym on Highway 51 south of Oakland.
Ross and Armintie Price, starting guard for the WNBA Atlanta Dream and former Ole Miss All-American, will provide instruction for girls and boys in grades 1-12. The clinic will teach all ages and skill levels from beginners to high school stars, according to Ross.
