WVAC Seeks Artists To Display At Renasant Bank’s Rotating Show
The Water Valley Arts Council is looking for artists to exhibit their work at Renasant Bank in Water Valley.
Painting, collage, photography, drawing, and textile media would be a welcome addition to the walls of Renasant Bank. There is no charge for exhibiting work. All work must be ready to hang (frames, wires for hanging).

Ross Hosts Holiday Hoopin’ Clinic
WNBA Coach Carol Ross, a native of Oakland, will hold a free Holiday Hoopin’ basketball clinic Saturday, Dec. 15, from 10 a.m. until noon at the old Walker Gym on Highway 51 south of Oakland.
Ross and Armintie Price, starting guard for the WNBA Atlanta Dream and former Ole Miss All-American, will provide instruction for girls and boys in grades 1-12. The clinic will teach all ages and skill levels. Registration is at 9:45 a.m. and participants are urged to dress warm and wear sneakers. For more information, contact Rev. Wrestling Superstars Hold Benefit For Oakland Police
Maximum Champion Wrestling Superstars will have a fundraiser for the Oakland Police Department Saturday, December 15. This event will be held in the Oakland Fire Department. The doors will open at 6 p.m. and bell time will be 7. General admission will be $8. Santa Claus is coming to town and children are invited to bring their letters to Santa.
Bozarts Hosts Book Release Party
Bozarts Gallery will host a book release party for “A Short Ride: Remembering Barry Hannah” with music by Po Hannah, Friday, Dec. 14 at 7 p. m. The event is free and open to the public. All are invited to this sampling of more than 30 unique tributes. The book is published by Vox Press, an independent local publishing house.
Benefit Set For Tracy McMinn Marberry
A benefit for Tracy McMinn Marberry will be held December 15, between 5 and 7 p.m. in the Hendricks Building on Main Street at Water Valley. There will be a silent and live auction, live music, and barbecue from the Rib Cage. Proceeds from this event will go towards her medical bills.
Pleasant Agers Meet December 19
Pleasant Agers will meet Wednesday, December 19, in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Calhoun County, on CR 231 across the railroad on the left. There will be a Christmas potluck lunch at noon. Rev. Justin Gates will be ministering in music and song. Pleasant Agers invites everyone to attend.
Masonic Chapters Set Meeting Date
McConico Chapter No. 96 RAM and J.J. Melton Council No. 50 R&SM will hold their next stated meetings on Thursday, December 13, beginning at 7 p.m. in the Masonic Temple on Champion Circle. All members of these two bodies are requested to attend.
NWCC Spring Registration Scheduled In January
Registration for the spring semester at Northwest Mississippi Community College is just around the corner. Open registration and orientation for day classes for students who have not previously registered will be held on Friday, Jan. 11 on all Northwest campuses. Open registration for evening classes will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 9 and Thursday, Jan. 10.
Open registration for day classes will be held from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on the Senatobia campus and 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on the DeSoto and Oxford campuses. Open registration for evening classes will be held from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. on all three campuses. On the Senatobia campus, registration will be held in the Haraway Center. Pre-registered students will complete their registration process on campus on Wednesday, Jan. 9 and Thursday, Jan. 10. Students may register for online classes at any time during the college’s registration period.
Classes begin on Jan. 14. Late registration will begin Jan. 14 and end Jan. 18.
Terry Bland, director of Financial Aid announced that Financial Aid workers will be in the Haraway Center, Room 104, and on the other campuses to assist students with financial aid questions during registration. On the Senatobia campus, Financial Aid workers will be in the Haraway Center during registration from Jan. 9-11, but will return to their office in Yalobusha Hall, Suite 103 on Jan. 14.
