Art Talk

By Andi Bedsworth

Artists are getting busy again after the holidays, and galleries are accommodating them by showcasing their latest creations. Three Oxford venues are showing new work this week, including Art 2 Frame, Southside and the Powerhouse.
Art 2 Frame opened a new show last week featuring artists, Charles Chapin and Wesley H. Ortiz. Pairing these two gentlemen together for a show is a brilliant idea as both men are accomplished artists with bold and expressive works. The show will be open this month from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. The gallery/frame shop is located at 505 Heritage Drive.
Due to the popularity of last year’s drawing show, Southside has decided to mount another drawing show. Their hope is that collectors will get more insight into the process that drives the artists’ work as well as be able to purchase more affordable pieces to add to their collections.
The opening reception will be held on Friday, January 18 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
The Powerhouse is kicking off the 2013 Gallery Series with Pattern World, a show highlighting fiber art in honor of this year’s 3rd Annual Fiber Arts Festival put on by Knit One which will be held later in the month at the same venue. The gallery is open Monday through Friday from 9am-5pm, and the reception will be held Tuesday January 29th in conjunction with the monthly art crawl.
The short break is over so please go out and enjoy the new shows, and let me know if you have any arts related news at arttogollc@
