This past weekend was a big time for local art enthusiasts as many people showed up for the reception of The Mississippians: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly at Bozarts Gallery.
This show features portraits of locals and famous people from Mississippi. Neil White was there to sign and sell copies of his book at a reduced rate with the proceeds going towards the gallery. There was live music by Dutch loves Bijou and a good time was had by all who attended. If you missed it there is still time to see the show as it will be up all month, and there are other shows opening up as we speak.
The Oxford art scene is busy with several shows going up this week. Art2Frame on Heritage Drive is opening up their Memphis Artists Show with a big reception on Friday, Feb. 8th from 5-8pm. There will be live music by Cadillac Funk and Bill Perry. The Powerhouse is getting in on the action by hanging their newest exhibit, Hear and Then: A Celebration of Oxford Film, Music and Art in the gallery this week. The reception will be held later on in the month, but the show will be up this week and features slide shows of music, art and film as well as art works relating to those themes. Last but not least is The Frances McEwen Lib-rary Show which is an annual show held at the Oxford-Lafayette Public Library by the Oxford Artists’ Guild.
