Green Is The Theme For Costume Party And Dance

Green is the theme for the Green Gala of Yalobusha Costume Party and Dance March 16 at Bozarts Gallery.
The event benefits the Water Valley Arts Council’s Summer Art Camp for Kids, according to Ramona Bernard. “Last year 50 local area children enjoyed a week-long day camp filled with painting, puppetry, and performance and we’re planning to do it again this summer,” Bernard reported.
A Green King and Queen will be crowed and prizes awarded for the best Green Team, Most Environment-ally Green, and Cleverest Use of Green (color or concept) but you don’t need to wear a costume to join the party, Bernard added.

Tree Farm Management Is Topic At Forestry Meeting

There will be a Yalobusha County Forestry Meeting on Thursday, February 28, at 6 p.m. at the Yalobusha County Multi-Purpose Building.
Dr. Brady Self, MSU Assistant Extension Professor with the Mississippi Department of Wildlife and Fisheries will be the presenter. His  topic will be “Tree Farm Management Plan.” A meal will be served, so please call 662-675-2730 by Wednesday, February 27 to reserve your meal.  

Lions Club Hosts Monthly Pancake Breakfast

    The Water Valley Lions’ Club will host their first of the month pancake breakfast Saturday, March 2, from 6:30-9 a.m. in the Depot Building on Main Street. The menu will be all you care to eat of pancakes, sausage, juice and coffee, and plates will be $5 each.
     “Everyone is invited to come out and enjoy a delicious breakfast and some great fellowship, while helping support the many charitable projects of the Lions Club,” stated Lion Daniel Martin.

Jeff Davis Water Association Sets Annual Meeting Date

    The Jeff Davis Rural Water Association will hold its annual meeting March 4, beginning at 7 p.m., in the association’s building, located at 13589 Highway 32 West, Water Valley.
    All members are encouraged to attend.


Arts Council Meeting Agenda Includes Upcoming Events

The Water Valley Arts Council will have it’s next meeting on Tuesday, March 5, beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the Water Valley Main Street office downtown. Items on the agenda include the Green Party Saint Patrick’s Day Dance Party and Fund Raiser set for Saturday, March 16 along with the Summer Art Camp For Kids and more.
You don’t have to be a member to come to the meetings. Just come with positive ideas and a helping hand or brain. Remember -art makes the world a more interesting place to be and to see.

Water Valley Caregiver Group Schedules First Meeting

The first meeting of the Water Valley caregiver group will be held Thursday, March 7, beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the Community Room at Mechanics Bank. After that, the group will meet every first Thursday of the month.

Wrestling Superstars Sponsor Fundraiser For Oakland Police
    Maximum Championship Wrestling Superstars will present a fundraiser for the Oakland Police Department in the Oakland Fire Department Saturday, March 9.
    Former WWE, The Patriot, along with many more, will be on the program. Doors will open at 6 p.m. and bell time is 7. General admission will be $8.

Magnolia Baseball/Softball Sign-up Continues March 2

    Sign-up for Magnolia Youth League Baseball/Softball will continue March 2. The cost is $45 for one child, $40 for a second child, and $35 for the third child. For more information contact Darnell Vaughn at 473-3264 or 230-0237.

JA Sponsors 31st Annual Watermelon Pageant

    The Thirty-First Annual Watermelon Pageant, sponsored by the Junior Auxiliary of Water Valley, is scheduled for Saturday, April 13, beginning at 5 p.m. The pageant will be held in the Water Valley Civic Auditorium.
    Applications may be picked up at The Family Hairloom, Hair Trend, or Main Attraction. There is a $10 entry fee for all contestants and the deadline for entry is Tuesday, April 9, at 6 p.m. Please contact Kim Wilburn, Pageant Chairman, with any questions at 832-0411.

Masonic Meeting Set For Feb. 28

    St. Cyr Commandery No.6 will hold its next stated Conclave in the Masonic Temple on Champion Circle Thursday, February 28, beginning at 7 p.m. All members are urged to make an effort to attend and support your Commandery.

School Serves Breakfast During School Breakfast Week

    The week of March 4-8 will be National School Breakfast Week and no lunches will be served at both Davidson Elementary and Water Valley High Schools.
