Art Talk
With spring approaching many people are wishing for activities to get them out of the house. If you are one of those people, you will be thrilled to see the line-up of arts events opening up in the coming weeks in our area and beyond.
You can head over to Yalo Studio in Water Valley to see the show Fine Times at Our House: Drawings and Photographs by Art and Margo Rosenbaum. This duo from Athens, Georgia has been documenting the history of American Folk Music for 50 years, and this collection is reflective of their journey.
The University of Mississippi Museum will host a reception for its latest show, Portraits as Landscapes: Landscapes as Portraits: Yoknapatawpha County in the 1960s. The reception is scheduled Thursday, March 7, from 6-8 p.m. The photographs were taken by Alain Desvergnes and depict the mythical world of William Faulkner’s Yoknapataw-pha County.
The Mancave Show will open at Art 2 Frame on Heritage Drive on Friday, March 8 from 5-8 p.m. There will be a live radio remote from 95.5 from 4-6 p.m. and free chili cheese dogs, food and refreshments. Live music from members of Silas Reed and Da Books can be heard from 5:30-8pm, so be sure to check out this show featuring art that is suitable to hang in any gentlemen’s den, office, hunting lodge or man cave.
As you can see, there is a little something for everyone in the above schedule. Get out there and put some color in your life. Send your arts related news to arttogollc@gmail.com.
