Water Valley Caregiver Group Schedules First Meeting

The first meeting of the Water Valley caregiver group will be held Thursday, March 7, beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the Community Room at Mechanics Bank. After that, the group will meet every first Thursday of the month.
Call Heather Dominguez at 662-562-3129 for information. Every caregiver needs a break at least once a month.

Wrestling Superstars Sponsor Fundraiser For Oakland Police

    Maximum Championship Wrestling Superstars will present a fundraiser for the Oakland Police Department in the Oakland Fire Department Saturday, March 9. Former WWE, The Patriot, along with many more, will be on the program. Doors will open at 6 p.m. and bell time is 7. General admission will be $8.

JA Sponsors 31st Annual Watermelon Pageant

    The 31st Annual Watermelon Pageant, sponsored by the Junior Auxiliary of Water Valley, is scheduled for Saturday, April 13, beginning at 5 p.m. The pageant will be held in the Water Valley Civic Auditorium. Applications may be picked up at The Family Hairloom, Hair Trend, or Main Attraction. There is a $10 entry fee for all contestants and the deadline for entry is Tuesday, April 9, at 6 p.m. Please contact Kim Wilburn, Pageant Chairman, with any questions at 832-0411.

Pleasant Agers Meet March 20

    Pleasant  Agers will meet March 20 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Calhoun County on County Road 231, across the Railroad on the left. Meet and greet will begin at 11:30 a.m. A potluck lunch will be served at 12 p.m.  Guests Dwight and Marjorie Griffin from Tupelo will minister in music and song. Pastor Justin Gates invites everyone to attend this special event.

Valley City Lodge Makes Plans For Next Stated Communication

    Valley City Lodge No. 402 F&AM will hold its next stated communication Thursday, March 7, beginning at 7 p.m., in the Masonic Temple on Champion Circle. All members are requested to be present and support your local lodge.

Order Of Eastern Star Sets Meeting Date

     Water Valley Chapter No. 5, Order of Eastern Star, will have their next meeting Tuesday, March 12, in the Masonic Temple on Champion Circle, beginning a 7:30 p.m. Members are urged to please make an effort to attend.
Relay Committee Members, Team Captains Urged To Attend Meeting
 There will be a Relay For Life meeting on Thursday, March 7, beginning at 5:30 p.m. in the Community Room of the Mechanics Bank. All committee members, as well as team captains, are urged to attend.


March 18 Is Deadline To Register For ServSafe Class

A ServSafe food certification class will be taught April 16 and 17, beginning at 9 a.m. The certification exam will begin around 3 p.m. and should be completed by 5 p.m. on April 17. The class will be held at the Grenada County Extension Service office and the cost of the course is $135.  The deadline to register is March 18.
There must be at least seven people registered by the deadline for the class to be held. Call Pamela at the Yalobusha County Extension Office at 662-675-2730 for additional details and to register.  When calling to sign up, please inform the office of any disabilities that might interfere with your opportunity to participate in this program.  T

Valley Views Go On Sale In March

The 2012-13 Water Valley High School Valley Views annuals will go on sale beginning March 4-29 at a promotional cost of $45. After March the price will increase to $55, so reserve your annual now. The annuals are usually completed and shipped by mid-August. To order contact Jo Ann King at jking@wvsd.k12.ms.us or  annual staff members Brian Fox, Victoria Hopper, Kelsey Neeley, Devonte Soileau, Sierra Williams or Anna Williamson.

JA Plans Easter Egg Hunt

  Junior Auxiliary of Water Valley will have an Easter Egg Hunt March 23, beginning at 10 a.m. This will be for ages Pre-K thru 4th Grade and will be held in the Water Valley City Park. Refreshments will be served. There will also be face painting and pictures. Children in this age group are invited to come join in the fun.
