Gospel Musicians Perform at Pickin’ Shed In Banner

    There will be a gospel singing at The Pickin’ Shed, located on Highway 9, Banner, Friday night, beginning at 7 p.m. A  Potluck begin at 6. The Ellis Children, Bill Bailey, James Landreth, Wanda Lee, and James Guest (formerly Heavenly Vision) and a few others will be singing. There will be karoke music Saturday night, March 23, beginning at 7 p.m. with potluck at 6.

VFW Sponsors Easter Egg Hunt

    VFW Post 4100 will sponsor an Easter egg hunt Saturday, March 30, beginning at 1 p.m.  at their Post Home, located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley. The egg hunt will be for kids in the Water Valley Community, ages 0 through 12 years. “All children must be accompanied by a parent,” says Post Commander Sam Phillips.

Bobby Hood Performs At Weekly VFW Dance

    The regular VFW Post 4100 Saturday night dance will be held this week March 23, in the Post Home, located at 11535, Highway 315, west of Water Valley. Entertainment will be provided by Bobby Hood from 8 p.m. until midnight.         “Everyone is invited to come out and enjoy listening, or dancing, to the music,” reports Commander Sam Phillips.
    For those interested in playing the electronic VLC bingo machines the doors will open at 2 p.m.

VFW Schedules Bingo Action On Mondays And Fridays

    VFW Bingo will be played on Monday and Friday nights, March 22 and 25. Come out and join VFW Post 4100 for fun-filled evenings of bingo at their Post Home, located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley. The building opens at 2 p.m. on Monday, Friday, and Saturday for playing the electronic VLC bingo machines. Regular bingo session sales start at 6 p.m. and the first of 24 games begins at 7 p.m. You must be at least 18 years of age to play.
Team Captains To Provide Update At Relay For Life Meeting
    A Relay For Life meeting is scheduled Thursday, March 21, at 5:30 p.m. in the community room of Mechanics Bank. All committee members, as well as team captains are urged to attend. Team captains will provide information about food they will be serving at Relay along with other fundraising activities they will sponsor.


JA Sponsors 31st Annual Watermelon Pageant

    The 31st Annual Watermelon Pageant, sponsored by the Junior Auxiliary of Water Valley, is scheduled for Saturday, April 13, beginning at 5 p.m. The pageant will be held in the Water Valley Civic Auditorium. Applications may be picked up at The Family Hairloom, Hair Trendz, or Main Attraction.
    There is a $10 entry fee for all contestants and the deadline for entry is Tuesday, April 9, at 6 p.m. Please contact Kim Wilburn, Pageant Chairman, with any questions at 662- 832-0411.

Valley Views Go On Sale In March

The 2012-13 Water Valley High School Valley Views annuals will go on sale beginning March 4-29 at a promotional cost of $45. After March the price will increase to $55, so reserve your annual now. The annuals are usually completed and shipped by mid-August. To order contact Jo Ann King at jking@wvsd.k12.ms.us or  annual staff members Brian Fox, Victoria Hopper, Kelsey Neeley, Devonte Soileau, Sierra Williams or Anna Williamson.
    “Don’t miss this keepsake of memories,” reports King.

JA Plans Easter Egg Hunt

    Junior Auxiliary of Water Valley will have an Easter Egg hunt March 23, beginning at 10 a.m. This will be for ages Pre-K thru 4th Grade and will be held in the Water Valley City Park.
    Refreshments will be served. There will also be face painting and pictures. Children in this age group are invited to come join in the fun.
Heart Disease Is Topic At
YHS Meeting
The Yalobusha Historical Society will meet Thursday, March 21, at 2 p.m. in its headquarters (the former Presbyterian Church) in Coffeeville. The guest speaker will be Dr. John Evans, retired orthopedic surgeon, of the Summer-Webb area. His topic will be coronary artery disease. Visitors are welcome.

Murray Celebrates 93rd Birthday

    A 93rd birthday celebration will be held for Ms. Rena Murray on Saturday, April 6, from one until five o’clock in the afternoon in the Rolling Hills Activity Center at Water Valley. All family and friends and acquaintances are encouraged to attend. For additional information call  473-9388.
