The Main Street art scene was hopping on Friday with the opening of two great shows. If you did not have a chance to get out, you should plan on seeing these exhibits soon as they are definitely worth seeing.
At Yalo Studio, you still have time to see new work by Butch Anthony in his show, “Anatomy Can Be Fun.” Anthony has repurposed old paintings, artifacts, and photographs and put a new spin on them. He has taken a lot of the pictures and photos and added painted bones over them to show their inner anatomy and to create humorous depictions of the human spirit. Expect art that is smart, funny and surprising. The gallery is open Tuesday through Saturday from noon – 5 p.m.
Down the street at Bozarts is the Drawn to Art show which has some really colorful and diverse work. There are wool portraits, black and white sketches, colored drawings and more. This exhibition features work by many of the alliance members.
The big draw is the Draw-a-Thon in the back of the space. A large piece of paper is stretched across the wall for everyone to add their marks. Many people doodled and drew on the white expanse creating a collaborative work of art which will be split up and sold at the next show’s opening reception.
Stop by to fill in the empty spaces. The gallery is open Thursday and Friday from noon – 5 p.m. and on Saturdays from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
