Bobby Hood Performs At Saturday Night Dance

    The regular VFW Post 4100 Saturday night dance will be held on May 11 in the Post Home, located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley. Entertainment will be provided by Bobby Hood from 8 p.m. until midnight.

Monday, Friday Bingo Action Continues At VFW Post

    VFW bingo will be played on Monday and Friday nights, May 10 and 13. Come out and join VFW Post 4100 for fun filled evenings of bingo at their Post Home, located at 11535  Highway 315, Water Valley. The building opens at 2 p.m. on Monday, Friday, and Saturday for playing electronic VLC bingo machines. Regular bingo session sales start at 6 p.m. and the first of 24 bingo games begins at 7 p.m. You must be at least 18 years of age to play.

Masonic Chapters Schedule May 9 Meeting

    McConico Chapter No. 96 RAM and J.J. Melton Council No. 50 R&SM will hold their next stated meetings on Thursday, May 9, in the Masonic Temple on Champion Circle. All members of these two bodies are hereby notified that the meeting time has been changed to 7:30 p.m. until further notice and they are requested to make a special effort to attend.

Order Of Eastern Star Meets Tuesday, May 14

  Water Valley Chapter No. 5, Order of Eastern Star, will have their next meeting Tuesday, May 14, in the Masonic Temple on Champion Circle, beginning at 7:30 p.m. Members are encouraged to make an effort to attend.

Sanders Chapel Sets Registration Date

    Sanders Chapel Youth Community Activity Program (YCAP) open registration will be this Saturday, May 11, from 4-6 p.m.

Choirs, Soloists And Groups Invited To Scholarship Fund Gospel Fest

    The third J.C.H. Scholarship Fund Gospel Fest will be held in downtown Coffeeville, May 11, beginning at 10 a.m. and continuing until.
    Choirs, soloists, or groups are asked to participate with four or more numbers. A concession stand will be open.

Get Your Mother’s Day Goodies At Pink Ladies Bake Sale
  Yalobusha General Hospital and Yalobusha County Nursing Home Ladies Auxiliary (Pink Ladies) will hold their Mother‘s Day Annual Bake Sale on Saturday, May 11, in front of Turnage Drug Store. “Be sure and come by and get your Mother’s Day goodies,” urges the Pink Ladies.

Historical Society Hosts Guest Speak At May Meeting

The Yalobusha Historical Society will meet Thursday, May 16 at 2 p.m. in its headquarters, the former Presbyterian Church, at Coffeeville.  Carolyn Carter of Oxford, who suffered from cardiac arrest, will speak on “One More Heartbeat.”

Pleasant Agers Set Date For Monthly Gathering

  Pleasant Agers will have their monthly meeting Wednesday, May 15, at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Calhoun County. The church is located four miles west of Bruce on County Road 231, across the railroad on the left. Meet and greet will be at 11:30 and potluck lunch will be served at noon. After lunch Rev. James Taylor, pastor of Faith Baptist Church will be in charge of the program. Pastor Justin Gates invites everyone.

Barton To Share Memories Of Early Oakland At Library Program

    A program will be held at the Oakland Public Library for Pauline’s Memories. Pauline Barton will tell of her memories of early Oakland, Wednesday, May 8, beginning at 3 p.m. Everyone is invited to attend.

School Sponsors Summer Feeding
    The Water Valley School District will sponsor its annual free Summer Feeding Program May 28 through June 21 at the Davidson Elementary School Cafeteria. Free meals will be served to children up to age 18. Lunch will be served daily form 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Bus transportation will be provided for children who live in the city limits. Pick-up locations can be requested by contacting the district office at  473-1203.

JCH Gospel Fest Will Be Held Downtown In Coffeeville

    The JCH Gospel Fest 2013 will be held on Main Street in downtown Coffeeville Saturday, May 11, from 10 a.m.-until.
  Featured will be: Little Miss A’Lexia Horton of Water Valley; Little Miss Mya Lacey of Huntsville, Ala.; Skuna Valley Male Chorus of Coffeeville; United M.B. Church of Coffeeville; Poplar Springs M.B. Church of Eupora; Steen Sisters of Coffeeville; The Hearts of Tupelo; Young Chapel Male Chorus of Duck Hill; New Zion Male Chorus of Okolona; Teens in Action for Christ of Oxford; Danny Watkins of Vardaman; Ethel Horton of Coffeeville; Kingdom Movement of Coffeeville; Victory Church of Coffeeville; Amanda Haas of Oakland; Shelby Willis of Coffeeville; Claude Hughes of Coffeeville; Mrs. Gail Thompson of Oxford; and more. Music will be by Michael Booker.
  “We are asking everyone to come out and be a part of this celebration. All donations will go to the  scholarship fund,” stated Clayton Horton.

Star Nite Talent Show Set For May 11

The Star Nite Talent Show has been rescheduled for this Saturday, May 11, in the Water Valley Civic Audito-rium. The doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and the show starts at 8 p.m. It will conclude at 11:15 p.m. Included will be  a fashion show, singing, dance, and musical events.
