Blue Devils Host Winona In Spring Game

The Blue Devils will host Winona Friday in the Spring Game. The action gets underway at 6 p.m. and comes after three weeks of spring practice.
Coach Brad Embry said the playing time will be divided between varsity and junior varsity.
The Blue Devils ended the season in November after  losing in the second round of 3A playoffs against Cleveland Eastside, 26-24. That loss was the third in the  2012 season as the Blue Devils posted a 10-3 record.
“This scrimmage game will give us a grading point going into the summer,” Embry told the Herald. “Plus there will be a lot of football for the fans to enjoy.”
The game will also give younger players, who will step up into key positions, some playtime. The program lost 15 senior players this past season.
Seven of seniors signed signed National Letters of Intent back in February to play football at the next level  in what is one of the largest signing classes in Blue Devil history.
The group includes     Taylor Edwards (Troy University), Devin Fleming (Alcorn State University), Denzell Jones (Northeast Community College), Row-dy Williams (Northeast Community College), Quin-terio Bailey (Northwest Community College), Justin McCammon (North-west Community College), and Jeoffrey Gordon (Itawamba Community College) comprised what is believed to be the largest signing class in Blue Devil history.
