Adams Performs At VFW Dance

  The regular Saturday Night VFW Dance will be held May 18 in the VFW Post Home,  located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley. The Jason Adams Band will provide music  for the event from 8 p.m. until midnight. “Come out and enjoy dancing, or listening,to the music,” stated Commander Sam Phillips.

 Relay Wrap Up Meeting Is May 16

    The wrap-up meeting for Yalobusha County Relay for Life will be Thursday, May 16, 2013 in the Mechanics Bank Community Room starting at 5:30 p.m. All committee members, chairpersons, team captains, and team members are encouraged to attend this important meeting.

Historical Society Hosts Guest Speaker At May Meeting

The Yalobusha Historical Society will meet Thursday, May 16 at 2 p.m. in its headquarters, the former Presbyterian Church, at Coffeeville.  Carolyn Carter of Oxford, who suffered from cardiac arrest, will speak on “One More Heartbeat.”

Wrestling Fundraiser Benefits Oakland Police Department

  Maximum Championship Wrestling Superstars will present an Oakland Police Department Fundraiser at the Oakland Fire Department Saturday, May 18. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and bell time is at 8 p.m. General admission is $8.

Class Of 1978 Plans Reunion

    The Water Valley High School Class of 1978 is planning its 35th class reunion to be held Saturday, August 3. VFW Schedules Friday Bingo Action

  Bingo will be played at the VFW Post Home, located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley, Friday night, May 17. The Post Home will open at 5:30 p.m., sales will begin at 6, and the first of 24 games will start at 7. You must be at least 18 years of age to play. There will be no bingo on Monday night.

School Sponsors Summer Feeding

    The Water Valley School District will sponsor its annual free Summer Feeding Program May 28 through June 21 at the Davidson Elementary School Cafeteria. Free meals will be served to children up to age 18. Lunch will be served daily form 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Bus transportation will be provided for children who live in the city limits. Pick-up locations can be requested by contacting the district office at  473-1203.

Corps, MDWFP Partner To Present Historical Info On Ford’s Well

U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Vicksburg District and the Mississippi Department of Wildlife Fisheries and Parks  are partnering to present historical information about Ford’s Well. The informative presentation will be at the North Mississippi Fish Hatchery on Saturday, June 1, at 2 p.m. The Fish Hatchery is located at Enid Lake, exit 233 on Interstate 55. Corps rangers Mike Robinson and Jackie Ferrell will make the presentation.
