Date Set For Masonic Meeting

    St. Cyr Commandery No. 6 will hold its next stated Conclave in the Masonic Temple on Champion Circle on Thursday, May 23. Members are hereby reminded that the meeting time has been changed to 7:30 p.m. until further notice. Members are urged to make an effort to attend and support your Commandery.

High School Registration Is This Friday

Water Valley High School is offering an opportunity to register for the 2013-2014 school year on Friday, May 24th from 8:00 – 11:30 a.m.  Parents should bring two proofs of residence and for 7th grade students an updated immunization form that includes T-DAP.  Registration paperwork may be printed from the district website, completed and presented with the 2 proofs of residency and immunization record (if required) for registration.   
Parents must register students for the 2013-14 school year and pay all current fines in order to pick up report cards on Friday. Registration for Credit Recovery will also be during this time. Students who qualify will need to register between 8:00 and 11:30 a.m.

School Sponsors Summer Feeding

The summer feeding program at Davidson Elementary School will begin May 28, according to Mike Robertson, Food Service Administrator for the Water Valley School District.
“You may be thinking about what your child will do for meals while school is out.  The good news is that the U.S. Department of Agriculture partners with the school to serve free meals,” stated Robertson.  
“There are no income requirements, and any child under age 18 may come and eat free.  Parents may eat with your children for only $3.  Meals may not be served before or after posted times,” he added.
Meals will be served May 28 through June 21, Monday thru Friday, from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at the Davidson Elementary Cafeteria.

Gospel Singing At The Pickin’ Shed
A gospel singing is scheduled Friday, May 24, at the Pickin’ Shed in Banner at 7 p.m.  Groups scheduled to perform include the Ellis Children and Without a Doubt along with other unannounced guests. A potluck supper will be served at 6 p.m.
On Saturday night, May 25, there will also be karaoke night. A pot luck supper will be served at 6 p.m. and the music gets underway at 7 p.m.

City Offices Close For Memorial Day

    The City of Water Valley City Hall offices will be closed Monday, May 27, to observe Memorial Day.
    Monday’s garbage route will run as usual.

Fish Hatchery Hosts Program On Ford’s Well

JACKSON – The North Mississippi Fish Hatchery Visitor Education Center (VEC) adjacent to Enid Lake will host a program on the history of Enid Lake on June 1 at 2 p.m. The “History of Ford’s Well” will focus on an area located on the south side of Enid Lake. Ford’s Well was dug in 1898 and became popular in the early 1900s because of the high mineral content of its water which was touted as a cure for many ailments. Mike Robinson, Supervisory Ranger for the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers, will present the program.
Admission is $2.50 for adults ages 18-59, and $2.00 for youth ages 3-17 and adults over the age of 60. For additional information please call the VEC at (662) 563-8068.
