Art Talk

By Andi Bedsworth

As the weather heats up, people often head to the pool and the beach. While these are great ways to spend the summer, I encourage you to experience some of the area’s cultural offerings as well this season. Bozarts Gallery has planned a fun lineup of arts activities during the month of June.
The local gallery is working with the Powerhouse in Oxford to create their newest show, “The Exchange Show.”
The idea was simple: Bozarts alliance members would exhibit their work at the Powerhouse, and Powerhouse artists would exhibit at Bozarts. The idea took form last year at a local community meeting held to discuss show themes for the Powerhouse Gallery Series.
The show will open next week at both venues. Bozarts will hold the opening reception on June 7th from 6-9pm. There will be a closing reception at Powerhouse on June 25 from 6-8 p.m.
They are also putting on their event, “Come get a Slice of the Draw-A-Thon” at the reception on June 7th. Pieces of the community drawn mural will be for sale. At the end of June on Friday 28th, they will have the “Back Door Sale” where you can come get special deals on art for 1 night only. This is a way for the artists to clear out their studios, so this is the time to score some great art. Have fun and send me your arts related news to arttogollc@gmail.com.
