Art Talk

By Andi Bedsworth

Last week I mentioned taking an ART-cation, and this week I will elaborate a little more on a workshop coming to Oxford in a few weeks. This two day workshop could be perfect for a little artistic respite.
Ice Tree Arts: Creativity Workshops hosts learning in the arts including in painting, drawing and photography. This July they are hosting a Mixed Media Collage workshop with Jackson artist, William Goodman.
Goodman has been creating collages since 1999, and his work can be found in many galleries, restaurants, public and private collections around the United States. He will also be a featured artist in a show at Bozarts Gallery this fall.
With such a stellar reputation and extensive resume Goodman is more than qualified to put on a great workshop, and this opportunity is not to be missed if you are a fan of mixed media. In this class entitled, Putting the Elements Together, he will teach students how to do image transfers among other skills.  The workshop starts on Friday, July 19, with an evening reception in which the artist will show videos of his work.         The next day will be a full day of art instruction at the Powerhouse. The cost of the workshop is $110.00, and includes the reception and lunch on Saturday. A supply list will be given at time of registration. You can sign up for this class by calling 236-6429. More information on Goodman’s work can be found at
