Art Talk

By Andi Bedsworth

Summer is the season for yard sales when people clean out their homes so others can come and find treasures.  The usual stuff at garage sales includes cookery and furniture, but wouldn’t it be cool to get art for your home or craft supplies to make more? With this idea, the Powerhouse has decided to hold a YART sale.
Stacey Sanford, who will be running the sale, explained how this event will work since trading will be encouraged at this atypical sale. For each item you bring, you will receive credits on a sticker.  Then you can walk around and shop. You can also just drop off items and walk away. If you would rather not bring anything you can just pay for it like you do at a regular garage sale. Everything will have a price and points so you can choose to trade or buy.
They are asking people to drop off items on Friday, July 12 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, July 13 from 8 a.m. to noon.  Please remember that this is a YART sale, so they are looking for artwork, art and crafting books, and other arts related items you do not want anymore.
Crafting items and supplies are welcome as well. All trades will stop at noon when the wheeling and dealing begins. Left over items will be donated or free to all after 2 p.m. The money generated will go towards programs at the Powerhouse.
Volunteers are needed so please contact Stacey Sanford at to help out.
