YHS Speaker Promotes Preservation Of Historic Battlefields

The Yalobusha Historical Society will meet on Thursday, July 18, at 2 p.m. in its headquarters, the former Presbyterian Church in Coffeeville.  
    The guest speaker is Randy Bishop, an avid scholar of the War Between the States and an advocate for preservation and restoration of historic battlefields.

WV Football Boosters Meet Tuesday, July 23 At Valley Tool

USDA Speakers Provide Info At Outreach Meeting

    Tri-County Agricultural Coop in Batesville will feature speakers from the USDA during a community outreach meeting scheduled July 25, from 6 to 7 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Multi-purpose Building in Coffeeville.
    The NRCS speaker will talk about funding for agricultural producers and other landowners. The FSA speaker will talk about offering credit to disadvantaged farmers and ranchers. The Rural Development speaker will talk about providing housing for low-income persons or the elderly.
    The public is invited.


Jeff Davis School Reunion Planned For Carnival Saturday

  The Jeff Davis school reunion will be held Saturday, August 3, beginning at 6 p.m. The gathering will be held in the Bethel Baptist Church’s Fellowship Hall. All former students, spouses and friends are invited to attend.
  Those attending are asked to bring a covered dish for a potluck dinner. Those attending are also encouraged to bring photos, year books, and any other things you might have from your Jeff Davis years. Looking forward to a great meeting with friends.

WVHS Alumni Invited To All-Inclusive Class Reunion

A multi-class reunion will be held Friday night, Aug. 2, beginning at 7 p.m. for WVHS alumni. The gathering is being planned and hosted by a group of former students from the 60s.
“This is not just for the 60’s classes, everyone is welcome,” said planners. It will be held in the “meeting room” building behind the Little Professionals Day Care at 521 North Court Street with plenty of parking. The event will include a potluck supper, same as in the past. The food can be purchased or homemade.  Plates, ice, cups, cutlery, napkins will be furnished. If you can’t bring anything just bring yourself. Dress is very casual, according to planners.
Also, attendees are urged to bring photos and memorabilia. A slide projector is also available. For more information or to find out what food items to bring, please call 473-2236.

WVHS Will Be Open To Visitors During Watermelon Carnival

  Water Valley High School will be open to visitors from 10:30 a.m.-12-30 p.m. Saturday morning, August 3, during Watermelon Carnival Weekend. Principal Glenn Kitchens will be in the office and available to visitors who would like to take a look around the building.

Classes Of 1958 And 1961 Schedule Informal Get-Together

    All friends, family members and classmates of the Water Valley High School classes or 1958 and 1961 are cordially invited to attend the annul informal get-together scheduled Saturday, August 3, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Please try to be present at noon for the group photos.
    If you have old photos and memorabilia you would like to share, please bring them with you to the fellowship hall, which is in the south wing of the Church of Christ, located on the northwest corner of North Main and Wise streets.
    Several members of the class of 1960 are also expected to attend this year. Don’t miss this opportunity to spend some time with old friends and catch up on the news. Volunteers to furnish refreshments and soft drinks are always appreciated.
