Descendants Of Edward Taylor Invited To Family Reunion

    The Taylor family reunion is scheduled for all descendants of Edward Taylor and his children: Ervin Best Taylor, Eva Lee Taylor Tarver, Alma Lois Taylor Lovelady, Colvin Robert Taylor, Lawrence Kyle Taylor, Edward Clay Taylor, Ila Mae Taylor Boatwright, William Coley Taylor, Pearl Taylor McEwen, James Curtis Taylor, and Corinne Taylor Ellis.
     The reunion will be held Sunday, September 1, at The Colonel’s Landing on CR 31. The landing is located west of Water Valley on Highway 32, three miles from the Highway 7 bypass, then right on 431 or east of I-55 on Highway 32 for 12 miles, then left on CR 431. Denley Family Schedules Family Reunion In September

    The family of Vernon Estel Denley and Annie Mae Hutchinson Denley are having a family reunion September 1, at Persimmon Hill Pavilion 583. Soccer Registration Set For The Next Two Saturdays At Crawford

    Soccer registration will be held August 17 and 24 from 9 a.m. until 12 noon at the Crawford Sports Complex. Ages 3-12 years old may sign-up. For more information, contact Darnell Vaughn, 473-3264.


Oxford Authors To Speak At August YHS Meeting

Margaret and Katherine King, Oxford authors of “Y’all Twins?” will be the August 15 speakers at the regular meeting of the Yalobusha Historical Meeting. The meeting is scheduled at 2 p.m. in the YHS headquarters, the former Coffeeville Presbyterian Church. Visitors are welcome.
Barbecue Plate Fundraiser Benefits
Recreation Center
    Highways and Hedges Recreation Center will sell barbecue plates to benefit a building fund on Saturday, August 17, from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. The fundraiser is scheduled at the center on East Lee St. The plate includes ribs, beans, coleslaw, cake, bread, and a drink for $8. A rib sandwich and drink is $4, and for a $1 chance you could win a barbecue grill on wheels.

Annuals From 2012-13 School Year Have Arrived

    The 2012-13 Water Valley High School Valley Views have arrived. If you prepaid for an annual in the spring, you may see Mrs. King at the high school to pick up your annual. If you did not purchase one and wish to do so, there are a few extras for $55.  
    “We also have extra annuals from 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2012,” said Mrs. King. If you would like an old annual, they are available for $25.


Learn How Minerals Improve Production At Beef Producer Meeting

    There will be a Beef Producer meeting August 28, beginning at 7 p.m. This meeting will be held in the Extension Building, 394 Highway 51 S, Batesville.A Biozyme representative will discuss how minerals can improve production and reproduction in your animals. A meal will be provided. Please call the Panola County Extension Service at 563-6260 by noon on Friday, August 16, to reserve your meal.

ServSafe Offered In October

ServSafe Food Certification Class will be taught October 1 and 2 beginning at 9 a.m. The certification exam will begin around 2:30 p.m. and should be completed by 5 p.m. on October 2nd. The class will be held at the Grenada County Extension Service.
The cost of the course is $135 and the deadline to register is September 3. Call Pamela at the Yalobusha County Extension Office @ 662-675-2730 for additional details and to register.
