JA Sells Chances On Big Screen Television At Football Games
Junior Auxiliary of Water Valley is offering a 50″ Sanyo television for a raffle fundraiser. Purchase one ticket for $1 or six tickets for $5. Visit the JA table at the concession building at any home game before homecoming. The drawing will be held at homecoming. You do not have to be present to win.
If you do not attend the games, tickets can be purchased from a JA member or at Jay Gee’s on South Main Street. The TV will be on display at Jay Gee’s. The proceeds from this raffle will fund Junior Auxiliary projects in the Water Valley community.
YHS Seeks Items For Yard Sale
The Yalobusha Historical Society is accepting items for our General Store/Yard Sale held at Celebrate Coffeeville Day Oct. 5. This is our annual fundraiser for the maintenance of the former Presbyterian Church. Please contact Joy Marter Tippit, 662-563-2607 if you have items to donate.
Crocker Family Reunion Is Sept. 15
The Crocker family reunion will be held in the Sylva Rena Community Center on Sunday, September 15. Lunch will be served at noon. Please bring a dish.
Addy To Take Senior Pictures Sept. 24
Addy Photography will be at WVHS on Tuesday, September 24 to take senior pictures (both formal and cap and gown). There will be a $25 sitting fee due at that time and all students who have their picture made will receive an 8×10 class composite.
If students wish to purchase senior portraits they may pick up an information packet from the school regarding poses and prices. Students are not obligated to purchase pictures but they will not be featured in the high school annual if they do not have their picture made. For questions regarding senior pictures, you may call Addy Photography at 236-1358.
Christmas Parade Will Roll Down Main December 14
The annual Water Valley Christmas Parade will be held Saturday, December 7, beginning at 1 p.m. The rain date will be the following Saturday, December 14, if needed.
All churches, businesses, factories, school groups, and individuals are urged to participate in the parade. If you would like to enter a float, a decorated golf cart, or a 4-wheeler with a decorated trailer, contact J. C. Womble at 473-3190, or email jcwomble53@yahoo.com or Bobby Murphree at 473-2501 to register your entry for the parade.
Santa Claus has already made plans to attend the parade. The Water Valley Christmas Parade is sponsored by the Tri-Lakes Fairground Association.
Program Benefits Hickey
There will be a benefit program for Debbie Hickey Sunday evening, beginning at 3 p.m., in the House of Prayer on Mill Street in Water Valley. Local choirs, soloists, and praise teams are asked to participate.
The benefit committee is calling on the community for your assistance to help sustain Hickey during her illness and extensive and long-term medical care. She has had two brain surgeries and long-term therapy will be required for her to regain her mobility. In addition, she has four school age children, ages 10-17, to support.

Fundraiser Benefits Highways And Hedges Recreation Center
The Highways and Hedges Boys and Girls Recreation Center will host a yard sale/auction on Saturday, September 28. Booth space is available for $4 per vendor. Vendors may submit up to three items to be auctioned off to the highest bidder. Scotty Willard from Oxford will be the auctioneer for this event. The center is located at 407 East Lee Street in Water Valley
The yard sale will be from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. The auction will begin at 10 a.m. Door prizes will be given during the event and refreshments will be available for sale. Vendors will not be allowed to sell food items and they must provide their own tables. Lee Is Speaker At YHS Meeting
William (Bill) Lee is the speaker for the Yalobusha Historical Society’s Thursday, Sept. 19 meeting at 2 p.m. in its headquarters the former Coffeeville Presbyterian Church. Bill Lee’s topic is Robert E. Lee’s English home. Bill Lee is Robert E. Lee’s cousin. Visitors are welcome.
Annual Reunion At Pine Valley Is Sept. 21
The annual Pine Valley School Reunion will be held the third Saturday in September, as always. The date is September 21, beginning at 10 a.m., and it will continue through lunch. You do not have to be a member of the community, or a former student of the school to attend. Just come and visit and enjoy seeing the building in its original condition.
