Christmas Parade Will Roll Down Main December 7
The annual Water Valley Christmas Parade will be held Saturday, December 7, beginning at 1 p.m. The rain date will be the following Saturday, December 14, if needed.
All churches, businesses, factories, school groups, and individuals are urged to participate in the parade. If you would like to enter a float, a decorated golf cart, or a 4-wheeler with a decorated trailer, contact J. C. Womble at 473-3190, or email jcwomble53@yahoo.com or Bobby Murphree at 473-2501 to register your entry for the parade.
Santa Claus has already made plans to attend the parade. The Water Valley Christmas Parade is sponsored by the Tri-Lakes Fairground Association.
Fundraiser Benefits Highways And Hedges Recreation Center
The Highways and Hedges Boys and Girls Recreation Center will host a yard sale/auction on Saturday, September 28. Booth space is available for $4 per vendor. Vendors may submit up to three items to be auctioned off to the highest bidder. The center is located at 407 East Lee Street.
The yard sale will be from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. The auction will begin at 10 a.m.. Vendors will not be allowed to sell food items and they must provide their own tables. For more information contact Elder Louis Rowsey or Deborah Rowsey at 473-3759 or (662) 202-4011.
Lafayette High School Team Sponsors Fundraiser For Henderson
The Lafayette High School softball team is sponsoring the 3rd Annual “All for Jo” Jack and Jill Softball Tournament on October 5. All proceeds from this tournament go toward a scholarship fund to benefit Edde Henderson, the daughter of Jo Lewis, an employee of the Lafayette County Schools, who died from cancer. Teams will be guaranteed three games with two pool play games determining the seed in the Single Elimination Tournament. The cost for the tournament is $100 per team.

Pine Valley Reunion Is Sept. 21
The annual Pine Valley School Reunion will be held the third Saturday in September, as always. The date is September 21, beginning at 10 a.m., and continuing through lunch. You do not have to be a member of the community, or a former student of the school to attend. Just come and visit and enjoy seeing the building in its original condition.
“Please bring your favorite dish to share and we will all enjoy having a great lunch together. Mark this on your calendar and come on out to Pine Valley for a wonderful day,” invites Joni Camp, publicity chairperson.
New Art Show At Renasant Features ‘Senior Students’
A new show is up at Renasant Bank. It features the art of “senior students” (not teens but older talented folks) who take lessons from Andi Bedsworth. She writes an arts column in the North Mississippi Herald and the Eagle and has an art class business called Art To Go LLC..
It’s a really fun and varied show of paintings, assemblages, found art watercolor and collage. Many are on sale for very reasonable prices.

YHS Seeks Items For General Store/Yard Sale
The Yalobusha Historical Society is accepting items for their General Store/Yard Sale held at Celebrate Coffeeville Day Oct. 5. This is our annual fundraiser for the maintenance of the former Presbyterian Church. Please contact Joy Marter Tippit at 662-563-2607 if you have items to donate.
Former Holley Employees Invited To Reunion
All former Holley Carburetor/Automotive employees, who were employed at the Water Valley plant are invited to a reunion. The reunion will be held in the Water Valley First Baptist Church Christian Activities Center (CAC) on October 24, beginning at 6 p.m. The cost of the fish dinner will be $12, to be paid at the door, cash only.

Lee Is Speaker At YHS Meeting
William (Bill) Lee will be the speaker for the Yalobusha Historical Society’s Thursday, Sept. 19 meeting at 2 p.m. in its headquarters the former Coffeeville Presbyterian Church. Bill Lee’s topic is Robert E. Lee’s English home. Lee is Robert E. Lee’s cousin. Visitors are welcome.
Pleasant Agers Meet Wednesday For Potluck Meal, Program
Pleasant Agers will meet at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Wednesday, September 18. Meet and greet is at 11:30, with a potluck meal at 12. Rev. Rick Griffin, who organized Pleasant Agers 14 years ago, will be in charge of the program. Pastor Justin Gates invites everyone for this special event.
