Calhoun MHV Council Sponsors Holiday Bazaar

The Calhoun County MHV Council would like to invite vendors, clubs, individuals, and businesses to participate in the Calhoun County MHV Holiday Bazaar to be held on Friday, November 15 from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the Multipurpose Building in Pittsboro.
Booth space is FREE but vendors MUST register before November 8, 2013 so that we can plan the set up and have tables ready. Vendors may begin setting up at 8:00 a.m. on Friday, November 15 and must remain open until 4:00 p.m. All Vendors must by approved by the Calhoun County MHV organization. Vendors are responsible for setup, breakdown, and cleanup of their space.
No outside concessions will be allowed due to fundraising efforts by county MHV organization.

Operation Christmas Child Meeting Set For Sunday

    An Operation Christmas Child meeting is scheduled at 2 p.m. Sunday, September 29, in the CAC of First Baptist Church in Water Valley. This meeting is for anyone from a church, organization, or an individual who wants to share the joy of packing a shoebox gift for a child. There will be information and supplies at the meeting. Annual Walker Cemetery Cleaning Is Saturday

    It is that time of year again and the annual Walker Cemetery Cleaning will be held October 5. The lunch fellowship will be held at noon, so everyone is invited to come early, with their favorite dish to share at lunch and yard tools to help clean. “Hope everyone can make it,” stated Sheila Nelson. Lafayette High School Team Sponsors Fundraiser For Henderson

The Lafayette High School softball team is sponsoring the 3rd Annual “All for Jo” Jack and Jill Softball Tournament on October 5.  All proceeds from this tournament go toward a scholarship fund to benefit Edde Henderson, the daughter of Jo Lewis, an employee of the Lafayette County Schools, who died from cancer. Teams will be guaranteed three games with two pool play games determining the seed in the Single Elimination Tournament. The cost for the tournament is $100 per team.

YHS Seeks Items For General Store/Yard Sale

The Yalobusha Historical Society is accepting items for their General Store/Yard Sale held at Celebrate Coffeeville Day Oct. 5. This is our annual fundraiser for the maintenance of the former Presbyterian Church. Please contact Joy Marter Tippit at 662-563-2607 if you have items to donate.

Masonic Chapter Schedules Meeting, York Rite Festival

St Cyr Commandery No. 6 will hold its next stated Conclave at the Masonic Temple on Champion Circle on Thursday, September 26 , beginning at 7:30 p.m. The chapter will also host an all day York Rite Festival on Saturday, Sept. 28. Please make an effort to attend and support your Commandery.

Upkeep And Maintenance Is Topic At Paris Cemetery Meeting

    An  annual meeting is scheduled Saturday, Oct. 5, at Paris Cemetery to address upkeep and maintenance. The short business meeting will start at 11 a.m., followed by a potluck dinner on the grounds. Anyone who has a loved one buried at the cemetery is urged to attend.  
    If you cannot attend, but wish to contribute towards the fund you may mail your donation to Mrs. Betty J. Mize, 86 CR 479, Paris, MS 38949.

Lafayette Springs School Reunion Is October 5

The Lafayette Springs School reunion will be held on Saturday, October 5, at the Primitive Baptist Church in Lafayette Springs. All who attended the school or lived in the  community prior to 1950 are encouraged to attend.
Alumni will gather around 10 a.m., visit and exchange memories of the people and events of our lives in the Lafayette Springs of “yester-year.”
Remember the day the roof of the school caught on fire? The new ‘modern’ outhouses that had two holes and a door without cracks you could see through? The day we all got a spanking for playing after the bell–everyone except Laura Vaughn?
The fun-filled day will include a pot luck lunch of sandwiches, salads, and desserts.  

Annual Meeting For Tri Lake Water Is October 1

    Tri Lake Rural Water Association will hold its annual meeting October 1, beginning at 7 p.m., in the Farm Bureau Building. For information call Henry White, 473-6252.


Former Holley Employees Invited To Reunion

 
    All former Holley Carburetor/Automotive employees, who were employed at the Water Valley plant are invited to a reunion. The reunion will be held in the Water Valley First Baptist Church Christian Activities Center (CAC) on October 24, beginning at 6 p.m. The cost of the fish dinner will be $12, to be paid at the door, cash only.
