Galleries and museums are full of great art works right now, and I encourage you to get out there and visit them as the weather turns cooler and the days get shorter. It is the perfect time to spend browsing the great diversity of art in our local communities.
In the Valley, Bozarts has just opened their show, Interpreting the Photograph which showcases works by Angela Clanton, William Goodman, and Ivo Kamps. In Oxford, the University Museum has a great exhibition by Ron Dale including many of his ceramic and mixed media installation pieces from the 1980s until the present.
A portion of their vast collection of paintings by Theora Hamblett is up as well. Southside Gallery on the square is hosting a show by William Dunlap and Andrew Blanchard, called Keeping it Between the Ditches. It features silk screen prints on panels by Blanchard and paintings by Dunlap. And this is only a small sampling of what is on display now.
The holidays will bring more offerings including the popular Ornament Auction at Powerhouse, the Biggest Baddest Art Show by the Oxford Artists’ Guild, the Bozarts Annual Holiday Miniature Show, and a fun exhibit/raffle at Yalo Studio. Make plans now to incorporate some art into your holidays.
There will be more information on those and more events in future articles as I try to gleefully keep up with all the great art this area has to offer. Please send me your arts related news to email@example.com.
