Pine Valley Haunts Hollow On Halloween Night

     Halloween Night Haunted Hollow will be held at the Pine Valley Fire Department Thursday night from 7-10 p.m. The fire department is located on Highway 32 and CR 212.
  Admission will be $7 and there will be concessions.

Halloween Activities Planned At Cossar State Park

    Cossar State Park will host Halloween activities at the park on November 2. The fun-filled night gets underway at 7 p.m. and continues until 9 p.m. Activities include a haunted trail, games and a cake walk.

Public Service Commissioner Will  Address Key Issues In Town Hall Meeting

Northern District Public Service Commissioner Brandon Presley will hold a Town Hall meeting in Water Valley on Tuesday, Nov. 5.
Among other things, Commissioner Presley plans to discuss the “Zap the Gap” program to address poor cellular telephone and high-speed Internet service, the No-Call law and other consumer related topics.
The meeting is free and open to the public and will be held at the Yalobusha County Courthouse located at 201 Blackmur Dr. in Water Valley from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m.

Arts Council Seeks Participants For Unique Parade Display

    The Water Valley Arts Council will be part of the yearly Christmas Parade, which will be held December 7. The Arts Council is having a “Decorate Your Bike, Wagon, Stroller” (anything non electric or gas), and parade during the Christmas Parade. Festive fun attire is welcomed as well.

Rock And Roll Is Theme For Oakland Christmas Parade

    The Oakland Christmas parade is scheduled Saturday, December 7, at 3 p.m. This year’s theme is a Rock and Roll Christmas. The cost to enter is $10 and organizers are seeking floats, vehicles, motorcycles and others from churches, businesses, organizations or individuals.

Vietnam Vets, Widows Invited To VFW Lunch In Bruce

  The VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Post 5571, invites all Vietnam veterans and the widows  to join VFW Post 5571 in Bruce on November 23, at 11:30 a.m. for lunch and entertainment.
    “We want to express our thanks and appreciation for your service to our country. We will need a head count for lunch,” stated Mary Clark. Lions Club Members Will Serve Pancakes Saturday

  The regular monthly Lions Club Pancake Breakfast will be held Saturday, November 2, from 6:30-9 a.m. The menu will be all you care to eat of  pancakes, sausage, coffee and juice and the cost per plate will be $5.
  Join friends, fellow Vallians, and Lions members at the Depot Building on Main Street for a great meal and some wonderful fellowship. Proceeds from this will benefit the many charitable projects of the Lions Club.

Stage Play Musical ‘The Color Pink’ Returns By Special Request

A special performance of the Color Pink, a stage play musical, is scheduled Saturday, Nov. 9, at the City Auditorium in Water Valley.
Back by special request, the curtains will open at 6 p.m. as the seven-member cast portrays  how cancer affects a family to help promote cancer awareness. Cast members include Terry Rockette, LaToya Weeks, Matthew Sledge, Zipora Hudson, Shontreal Hunt and others.

Contributions Needed For Upkeep Of Camp Ground Cemetery

 Funds are sorely needed for the upkeep of Camp Ground Cemetery. Maintenance for the grounds runs about $2,800 per spring and summer season. Although, mowing season if over for this year funds will be needed for next season. If you have loved ones in this cemetery, please contribute for its continued care.

Food Safety Class And Exam Offered For Daycare Workers

The Tummy Safe certification class and exam for daycare workers will be offered on Wednesday, November 6, at the Grenada County Extension Service in Grenada.  The class will begin at 9 a.m. and the exam will begin at 2:30 p.m. and the cost to take the class and or the exam is $100, which can be paid by money order or cashier’s check.  
If you are taking the exam, you will need to work through the Tummy Safe CD.  The cost of the CD is $25. Space is limited to seven participants and you must register and pay by October 28.
