Art Talk

By Andi Bedsworth

It is that time of year again! Halloween is over, and Thanksgiving is coming up in a few weeks.  Amidst the holiday celebrations is the Oxford Artists Guild’s Annual Biggest Baddest Art Show at the Powerhouse.
Each fall, the group gathers their best work and brings it to the gallery to be hung. It is always a big undertaking as the group is big and continues to grow. There are new members coming in and new art being made.
This year, the show features work by 42 artists with 70 pieces of art being displayed. There are paintings, collages, wood, iron, photographs, fiber art, dolls, and more. There will also be jewelry artists from the guild displaying their wares during the reception. This diversity always makes for an interesting display as the guild includes artists from all over the area. The group is now at 96 members with a mix of old and new members.
The reception for this show will be held on Tuesday, November 12 from 6 to 8 p.m. Bill Perry will be playing live music, and there will also be plenty of food and refreshments provided by the guild and the arts council. There will also be a People’s Choice Awards where viewers can vote for their favorite pieces.
More information about the guild can be found at oxfordartistsguild.com.
You can also get more information by attending the reception where membership and other information will be present. Please send me your arts related news to arttogollc@ gmail.com.
