Local Musicians Will Perform At Pickin’ Shed
There will be live music at The Pickin’ Shed, Hwy 9W, Banner on Friday night November 22nd beginning at 7 p.m. The House Band, The Spratlin Family, Steve McGregory, J. D. Long, and several other local performers. Karaoke will be Saturday night, November 23rd, at 7 p.m. There will be a potluck meal at 6 p.m. each night and the public is invited to both events.
Blackmur Hosts Tree Decorating
Blackmur Memorial Library will have its annual Christmas tree decorating Saturday, Nov. 23, beginning at 10 a.m. Children can come and make decorations to decorate the library’s Christmas tree for the upcoming holiday season. For more information, contact the library at (662)473-2444.
Quilt History Is Topic At YHS Meeting
The Yalobusha Historical Society will meet Thursday, November 21, at 2 p.m. in the old Presbyterian Church in Coffeeville. Jill Smith from New Albany will speak on the history of quilts. Visitors are welcome. Bill McMinn won the Wal-Mart gift card, and Lawrence Litten won the set of China at the annual fundraiser.
Lions Club Takes Orders For Christmas Cheese
The Water Valley Lions Club is currently taking orders for their “Christmas Cheese Packages” fundraiser. If you would like to make an order, or check the prices, contact any Lion you may know or Bill McGoodwin at 473-3063 or billymc1938@bellsouth. All orders have to be in by November 27.
“The normal monthly cheese sales will continue during our pancake breakfast on the first Saturday of each month,” states Lion Arland Ace Eilert. The next breakfast will be held December 7, between the hours of 6 and 10 a.m.
Cookie Exchange Set For Dec. 4 At Oakland Library
A cookie exchange will be held Wednesday, December 4, beginning at 3 p.m. in the Oakland Public Library.
Bring two dozen of your favorite cookies and your recipe. At this time participants will also hear favorite Christmas memories from anyone wishing to share.
Masonic Meeting Moved To Third Thursday In November, December
St. Cyr Commandery No. 6 will hold its next stated Conclave in the Masonic Temple on Champion Circle Thursday, November 21, beginning at 7 p.m. All members are hereby notified that the meeting date has been changed to the third Thursday for the months of November and December due to the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. Take notice thereof and govern yourselves accordingly. Members are urged to make an effort to attend and support your Commandery.
Kickoff Meeting Planned For Relay
There will be a kickoff meeting for Yalobusha County’s 2014 Relay For Life on Thursday, November 21, at 6 p.m. in the Mechanics Bank Community Room. All committee members, team captains, and other persons interested in volunteering to help with the 2014 event are urged to attend. If a team captain cannot attend, please send a representative.
Team captains and committee members are asked to invite one new person to the meeting. Refreshments will be served.
