Cookie Exchange Set For Dec. 4 At Oakland Library

  A cookie exchange will be held Wednesday, December 4, beginning at 3 p.m. in the Oakland Public Library.
  Bring two dozen of your favorite cookies and your recipe. At this time participants will also hear favorite Christmas memories from anyone wishing to share.

Arts Council Schedules Monthly Meeting Next Tuesday

The Water Valley Arts Council will hold a monthly meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 3, starting at 6:30 p.m in the Water Valley Main St Office at 207 North Main St. Topics for discussion include parade decorations for your bike, wagon, stroller (anything non electric or gas); future event ideas and more. You don’t have to be an Arts Council  member to attend the meeting. Just come with enthusiasm, community spirit and good ideas.

Blackmur Library Hosts Open House On December 3

    The public is invited to a holiday open house at Blackmur Memorial Library Tuesday, Dec. 3. The open house will begin at 3:30 p.m. and will last until 5 p.m. Refreshments will be served. The open house is being presented by the Blackmur Library Board of Directors and the Friends of Blackmur Memorial Library. If you have any questions, please contact the library at (662) 473-2444.

Northwest Christmas Concert Is Dec. 5 At Howard Coliseum

    The Fine Arts Division at Northwest Mississippi Community College will hold its annual Christmas Concert on Thursday, Dec. 5 at 7 p.m. in Howard Coliseum on the Senatobia campus. Because of the change of venue, no advance tickets are necessary. The event is free to the public.
    The concert will feature performances by the Northwest Singers and Chamber Choir, The Entertainers, the Symphonic Winds, Wind Ensemble, Percussion Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble, and the Steel Band. Several special small ensembles will also perform selections.
    Concert goers can expect to hear seasonal favorites and  “The Night Before Christmas” will be read for the children by Ed Carroll, assistant director of Campus Life and Housing.

Lions Club Takes Orders For Christmas Cheese

    The Water Valley Lions Club is currently taking orders for their “Christmas Cheese Packages” fundraiser. If you would like to make an order, or check the prices, contact any Lion you may know or Bill McGoodwin at 473-3063 or billymc1938@bellsouth. All orders have to be in by November 27.
  “The normal monthly cheese sales will continue during our pancake breakfast on the first Saturday of each month,” states Lion Arland Ace Eilert. The next breakfast will be held December 7, between the hours of 6 and 10 a.m.
