Oakland Parade Is Saturday

  The Oakland Christmas Parade and the Oakland Community Flea Market will be Saturday, December 14. The flea market will start at 8 a.m. and continue to 2:30 p.m. and the parade will begin at 3:30 p.m.
    If you are interested in participating in the parade, or having a booth in the flea market, contact Sharonda Jones at (662) 589-0040, Vera Walls at (662) 709-0440, Monica and Lezelrick Hodges at (662) 607-6329. The entry fee is $10.

Pleasant Agers Meet Dec. 18

    Pleasant Agers will meet December 18 in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Calhoun County, located on County Road 231, across the railroad on the left. Meet and great will start at 11:30 a.m. with a potluck lunch to be held at noon. Guest speaker will be Tillie Gullett. Christmas carols will be sung after her presentation. Pastor Justin Gates invites everyone to attend this special Christmas program.

YHS Plans Christmas Party

    The Yalobusha Historical Society will meet Thursday, December 19, at 2 p.m. in its headquarters the former Presbyterian Church. Reverend Stacy Douglas, pastor of the Coffeeville Methodist Church will lead in Christmas music for the YHS Christmas party.

Gospel Jubilee Will Be Held In Gore Springs

    A Gospel Music Jubilee will be held in the Gore Springs Community Center December 14, beginning at 6 p.m. Admission will be $5. The program will feature Bill Monaghan, Still Blessed, Bobby Hawkins, and Boundless Love. A concession stand with hamburgers, hotdogs, drinks, coffee, popcorn and home made desserts will be open. Come out and enjoy a night of good entertainment.

Rural Legal Service Schedules Advisory Election

    North Mississippi Rural Legal Service will hold its Local Advisory Election  on Tuesday, December 17, at 6 p.m.   The election will be held for the counties of Calhoun, Desoto, Grenada,  Lafayette, Marshall,  Panola, Pontotoc, Tate and Yalobusha. The meeting will be held at North Mississippi Rural Legal Service Office, located at 05 County Road 1014 on Oxford.   The public is invited to attend. For more information call 1-800-559-5074.
