Blackmur Expands Weekday Hours In New Year

    Blackmur Memorial Library is kicking off the New Year with expanded weekday hours.    
    Beginning in the new year, Blackmur Library will open its doors at 8 a.m. and be open until 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, including the noon lunch hour. This will give an extra hour each weekday for patrons to use the library. The library will no longer be open on Saturdays.    
    Blackmur Memorial Library is located at 608 Blackmur Drive and serves Water Valley and the surrounding area in Yalobusha County. If you have any questions about the library, the holdings or services, please call (662)473-2444.

Native Plants Is Topic At Historical Society Meeting

    Emily Jo Wiggins, director of the Education Center at North Mississippi Fish Hatchery Enid is the guest speaker for the Yalobusha Historical Meeting Thursday, January 16, at 2 p.m. at its headquarters the former Presbyterian Church, Coffeeville.  Emily’s topic is native plants and uses.  She will also talk about upcoming events at the NMFH.  Visitors are welcome.

Deadline To Register For Sylva Rena Church Trip Is January 18

  Sylva Rena Baptist Church is planning a trip April 7-10 to Asheville, North Carolina to attend the Senior Adult Southern Gospel Conference, held in the Ridgecrest Conference Center. Musical guests are The Hoppers, Stan Whitmire, and Sisters. Speakers will be Matt Lowry, Dr. Jim Henry, and Harris Malcon. Confirmation of your attending is needed by January 18. Order Of Eastern Star Schedules Monthly Meeting

    Water Valley Chapter No. 5, Order of Eastern Star, will have their regular meeting Tuesday, January 14, in the Masonic Temple on Champion Circle. The evening will begin with a pot luck supper at 6:30 p.m. A new member will be initiated at this meeting. Members are asked to please make an effort to attend and support your local Chapter.

Masonic Bodies Set Meetings

  McConico Chapter No. 96 RAM and J.J. Melton Council No. 50 R&SM will hold their next stated meetings on Thursday, January 9, in the Masonic Temple on Champion Circle. All members are hereby notified that the meeting time has been changed to 7 p.m. until further notice. All members are requested to make a special effort to attend.

Food Safety Course Offered For Child Care Providers

The TummySafe Certification Exam for daycare workers will be offered on Thursday, January 16 at the Yalobusha County Extension Service in Coffeeville.  The exam will begin at 1 p.m. and the cost to take the exam is $100, which can be paid by money order or cashier check.
