Order Of Eastern Star Set February Meeting Date

    Water Valley Chapter No. 5, Order of Eastern Star, will have their regular meeting on Tuesday, February 11, beginning at 7:30 p.m., in the Masonic Temple on Champion Circle. Members are asked to please make an effort to attend and support their local chapter.

Valley City Lodge Holds Next Stated Communication Feb. 6

  Valley City Lodge No. 402 F&AM will have its next stated Communication Thursday, February 6, in the Masonic Temple on Champion Circle, beginning at 7 p.m. Please note the time change until further notice. All members are requested to be present. Take due notice thereof and support your local lodge during this new year.

Safety Meeting, Work Day Set For 4-H Shooting Sports

 A Shooting Sports 4-H safety meeting is scheduled for February 8, beginning at 9 a.m., in the Yalobusha County Multi-Purpose Building at Coffeeville. This is a mandatory meeting and all interested who missed the initial interest meeting are asked to attend.
  A Shooting Sports work-day is scheduled at the Coffeeville Shooting Range on February 8, beginning at 1 p.m. weather permitting. For  more information contact Tony Carmichael, (662) 457-4335.

Scout Fundraiser Will Fund Pinewood Derby Tracks

The Cub Scouts Pack 14 Cub of Water Valley will celebrate Scout Sunday at the First United Methodist Church  Sunday, Feb. 9 at 10:45 a.m. The scouts are selling spaghetti plates after the service, starting around 12:15 p.m. The plates include spaghetti, corn, green beans, a roll, a brownie and a glass of tea. Plates cost $8, and any donations will be appreciated. The scouts are raising money to buy Water Valley’s first set of Pinewood Derby tracks. The derby is scheduled to be held on March 15. Please come out and support our scouts.

Billy’s Creek Water Association Sets Annual Meeting Date

  Billy’s Creek Rural Water Association will hold their Annual Meeting on the second Monday in February, February 10, beginning at 7 p.m. The meeting will be held in the Sylva Rena Community Center.

Students Invited To Submit Art For Annual Contest At North Mississippi Fish Hatchery

Students across Mississippi are invited to get outdoors and participate in the 2014 North Mississippi Fish Hatchery Youth Art Contest. Each student must submit a portfolio including entry form and artwork to the Visitor Education Center (VEC) by May 15, 2014. The contest is sponsored by the Foundation for Mississippi Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks (Foundation).
Winners in four age categories will have their work included in Mississippi Outdoors magazine and posted on the Foundation’s website. First place winners will receive a complimentary copy of the magazine displaying their work.

The VEC is part of the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks’ North Mississippi Fish Hatchery and is located at Exit 233 east off I-55.
