Sardis Hosts Sixth Annual Aprilfest Car Show
The sixth annual Sardis Aprilfest Open Car Show will be held in Downtown Sardis Saturday, April 5, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The show is open to all makes of car, truck and motorcycle.
The event is sponsored by the Sardis Chamber of Commerce and the Mississippi Delta Street Rods. For information contact Pam Hatton at 901-493-4129 or Darrell Martin at 662-561-5163. The Street Rods raise funds for charities, including the Baptist Children’s Village.
Arts Council Seeks Artists For Bank Display
The Water Valley Arts Council is looking for artists to display their work at the Renasant Bank in Water Valley.
Painting, Drawing, Quilting, stained Glass, Photography, Collage, or any 2 dimensional work would be accepted. All work must be ready to hang with proper frames and wires on the back for hanging. This is open to all age groups. Work will receive photos and press in the local newspaper. There is no fee to show your work.

Keith Is Speaker At March Historical Society Meeting
Spencer Keith is the scheduled speaker for the Yalobusha Historical Meeting scheduled Thursday, March 20. Keith’s topic will be the Battle of Brice’s Crossroads in June, 1864.
The meeting will be held at the Historical Society headquarters, located in the former Presbyterian Church in Coffeeville.
County’s Diabetes Wellness Team Hosts Cooking Seminar
Everyone is invited to attend a cooking seminar entitled, “Just A Little Healthy Taste,” on Thursday, March 27, beginning at 5 p.m. in the Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church of Coffeeville. Attendees will be offered recipes and tips of a healthy meal and will be served samples of healthy dishes.
The event is sponsored by the Yalobusha County Diabetes Wellness Team and is coordinated by Inetra Polk Baker and Mamie H. Shields.
Volunteers Interested In Helping With Relay Urged To Attend Thursday’s Meeting
There will be a meeting for Yalobusha County’s 2014 Relay For Life on Thursday, March 20, at 6 p.m. in the Conference Room at The Farm Bureau Office on Frostland Drive (Hwy 32 West).
All committee members, team captains, and other persons interested in volunteering to help with the 2014 event are urged to attend. Orders and money collected for Relay t-shirts should be turned in at this meeting. If a team captain cannot attend, please send a representative.
Junior Auxiliary Schedules ‘Spring Fling’ On April 12
The Junior Auxiliary of Water Valley’s “Spring Fling” will be held at the Yalobusha Country Club on April 12. The event will celebrate a week’s long awareness for the National Association of Junior Auxiliaries. The day will begin with a golf scramble, which will be $140 per team and continue into the evening with a silent auction and live music. Tickets for the evening’s festivities will be $20 for a single ticket and $35 for a pair.

Live Music Scheduled At The Pickin’ Shed In Banner
There will be live music at The Pickin’ Shed, located on Highway 9 West at Banner, on Friday night, March 21, beginning at 7 p.m. The house band, The Ellis Family Bluegrass Gospel band; J. D. Long; Steve McGregory, “the piano man”; John Jordan of Sardis; and other local artists will be performing.
Karaoke will be Saturday night, March 22, at 7 p.m. There will be a competition among the singers for the best outfits. Saturday night will be videoed.
There will be a potluck meal at 6 p.m. each night and the public is invited.
