Cathron’s Journey Will Be Presented At Oakland Library

    Cathron’s Journey will be presented Wednesday, April 16, beginning at 3 p.m. in the Oakland Public Library. Join your friends at the library to hear stories of Reverend Cathron Camp’s life journey.

Masonic Chapters Set Date For Next Meeting

     McConico Chapter No. 96 RAM and J.J. Melton Council No. 50 R&SM will hold their next stated meetings on Thursday, April 10, beginning at 7:30 p.m., in the Masonic Temple on Champion Circle. All members are hereby notified that the meeting time has been changed to 7:30 p.m. until further notice and are requested to make a special effort to attend.

Oakland Masons Host Dinner

    On Saturday, April 12, from 2-4 p.m. the Masonic Family of Oakland will serve a dinner for all senior citizens of the Masonic family, present and past members. Others, age 65 and over, are also invited.

Gore Springs Gospel Jubilee Features Local Favorites

    A gospel music jubilee will be held in the Gore Springs Community Center April 12, beginning at 6 p.m. Admission will be $5. The Jubilee will feature: The Trailsmen; Gospel Echoes; Tracemen Quartet; and The Castles. There will be a concession stand.

Camp Ground Church Hosts Easter Egg Hunt

    Camp Ground Baptist Church will host an Easter Egg Hunt, followed by hotdogs, chips, drinks, and dessert. The activities will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 19. Participants are asked to bring 12 plastic-filled eggs.

Friends Of The Library Plan Kickoff For Library Week

    Library Week will be April 14 through April 18. A special day—a kick off—will be held for all the children of the community Wednesday, April 16, from 3:30 until 5 p.m. The special day will include a number of activities and a lot of good food, all at the Blackmur Memorial Library. This event is sponsored by Friends of the Library.

Is Topic At YHS Meeting
    The Yalobusha Historical Society will meet Thursday, April 17, at 2 p.m. in its headquarters, the former Presbyterian Church in Coffeeville. The speaker will be historian John Nelson of Batesville. Nelson will speak about the   27th Infantry from Tallahatchie County serving in the Civil War. Visitors are welcome.

Junior Auxiliary Schedules Activities As Part Of Week-Long Awareness For National JA

The Junior Auxiliary of Water Valley’s “Spring Fling” will be held at the Yalobusha Country Club on April 12. The event will celebrate a week-long awareness for the National Association of Junior Auxiliaries. The day will begin with a golf scramble, which will be $140 per team and continue into the evening with a silent auction and live music. Tickets for the evening’s festivities will be $20 for a single ticket and $35 for a pair.

Annual Easter Activities Scheduled At Cossar State Park

    Cossar State Park will hold the annual Easter activities Saturday, April 19. The egg hunt will begin at 10 a.m. and other games and activities will follow. This will all be held behind the visitor’s center.
    The Easter Bunny has planned a special trip to the egg hunt, along with Smokey the Bear and Woodsy the Owl. Friends of Cossar will have a concession stand open to provide delicious treats for the event.

Registration For Incoming Seventh Graders Is May 15-16
 
     Registration will be held on Tuesday May 15, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Wednesday May 16, from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. for students who will be entering the seventh grade for the 2014-15 school year.
    The required documents for registration will be posted on the Water Valley School District website and a letter will be sent home this week for the current sixth graders at Davidson Elementary School outlining registration requirements.
