Camp Ground Church Hosts Easter Egg Hunt

    Camp Ground Baptist Church will host an Easter Egg Hunt, followed by hotdogs, chips, drinks, and dessert. The activities will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 19. Participants are asked to bring 12 plastic-filled eggs.

Tallahatchie County Infantry Is Topic At YHS Meeting

    The Yalobusha Historical Society will meet Thursday, April 17, at 2 p.m. in its headquarters, the former Presbyterian Church in Coffeeville. The speaker will be historian John Nelson of Batesville. Nelson will speak about the   27th Infantry from Tallahatchie County serving in the Civil War. Visitors are welcome.

Annual Easter Activities Scheduled At Cossar State Park

    Cossar State Park will hold the annual Easter activities Saturday, April 19. The egg hunt will begin at 10 a.m. and other games and activities will follow. This will all be held behind the visitor’s center. The Easter Bunny has planned a special trip to the egg hunt, along with Smokey the Bear and Woodsy the Owl. Friends of Cossar will have a concession stand open to provide delicious treats for the event.

Extension Service Offers Computer Class

 The Extension Office will offer a Computer Class Tuesday, April 22, from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. The cost will be $2 and light refreshments will be served.
     The class will be, “Digging up Bones, Finding our Ancestors on the Internet.” In this class participants will learn how to use the internet to do genealogy research online. This class will have participants digging up graves, viewing military records from World War I, and learning tips and techniques to make your search more fruitful. Space is limited. Call the Extension Service at 675-2730 to register. Payment should be received to be considered registered for class.

Folson Sports Organization Schedules Talent Show

    A talent show will be held Saturday, May 3, in the Water Valley Civic Auditorium. Call 607-2192 by May 1 if you are interested in being in the show. This talent show is sponsored by the Freddie Folson Sports Organization.

Hearts For The Innocent Gear Up To Help Orphans

    “The Hearts For The Innocent” are gearing up to help those precious orphans! They will have a spectacular Easter bake sale on Saturday, April 19, from 7 a.m.- noon in the First Assembly of God of Water Valley parking lot, next to Regions Bank. Please come out and get some Easter goodies for your family and support a wonderful cause! We will also be selling kitchen aprons—lots to choose from. All proceeds go to help orphaned children.

Greater Sanders Chapel Hosts Benefit Day For Deacon

    Greater Sanders Chapel will host a benefit day for deacon Barron Matthews on April 26, starting at 10:30 a.m.
    There will be a horse riding club from Jackson present to let the children ride horses and there will also be games for them to play.
    Also, starting at 1 p.m., there will be basketball games from teens in the surrounding areas. All teams are asked to register with a $25 donation to help support this cause. Everyone’s support will be greatly appreciated.

Broadstreet Cemetery Group Schedules Annual Meeting

    The Broadstreet Cemetery Group will hold its annual meeting at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 27, at the cemetery. Those attending are ask to bring lawn chairs. Officers will be elected and a business report given. Those who read this notice are asked to contact family members, or others who may not know of the meeting. V.A. Medical Center Brings Mobile Health Clinic To Church

    The G.V. (Sonny) Montgomery VA Medical Center will set up a Mobile Health Clinic at Rocky Mt. M.B. Church, 1339 County Road 92, Water Valley, to provide health care services. VA benefits, and enrollment to veterans in the area on Saturday, April 26, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
    The following services will be available: Eligibility Determination, Registration, Enrollment in MyHealtheVet, Physical Exams, Patient Education,Vet Center Information, Benefits Information, Cemetery Information, Female Veterans Information, and many other services.

 City Offices Close For  Holiday

    All City of Water Valley offices and departments will be closed Friday, April 18, to observe the Good Friday holiday. The commercial garbage route will run.


Baptist Association Holds Prayer Meeting At Sylva Rena

    The Yalobusha Baptist Association National Day of Prayer meeting will be held in Sylva Rena Baptist Church May 1, beginning at 7 p.m.
    Bro. Jimmy Hood, Associational Music Director, will lead in praise and worship. Bro. Hood is pastor of Oakland Baptist Church. Bro. Shane Crawford, pastor of Sylva Rena Baptist Church, will be the guest speaker. Bro. Crawford recently moved to Water Valley from Nettleton. He surrendered to the ministry at the age of 17 and earned his undergraduate degree in Biblical Studies from Blue Mountain College and Master of Divinity from Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary. He is currently writing his doctoral dissertation for his PhD.
