Sunday, April 27
    The youth choir of First Christian Church of Water Valley will present their spring musical this Sunday, April 27 during the morning worship Service at 10 a.m. The musical is entitled, “God’s Rock and Roll Love Story – The Remix!” Featuring music from the 1950s and 1960s with original lyrics and recitations by Mary Freeman, this musical will show how God’s love has been expressed from the beginning. You will laugh and you will be touched by the message of this musical. The community is invited to attend.

    Goshen Memorial Chapel will host their annual spring homecoming April 27. Due to Easter being on the third Sunday, homecoming has been rescheduled to the fourth Sunday. The “Fishers of Men” and “Cannan Landers” will present gospel singing.
    Services will begin at 11 a.m., with a potluck lunch at noon. After lunch everyone will join together in song and praise to praise and glorify our Lord.

    The Missionary Department of Union Hill C.M.E. Church will sponsor a missionary program Sunday, April 27, beginning at 3 p.m. The speaker for this occasion will be Rev. Michael Philips, pastor of Oak Grove Church in Bruce. Everyone who can, and will, is asked to come out to be blessed and support this missionary event.

Thursday, May 1
    “One Voice, United in Prayer” is the 2014 National Day of Prayer theme. On Thursday, May 1, there will once again be a community observance of the National Day of Prayer at the flagpole of the Crawford Sports Complex.
    This will be held at noon. Ministers from a cross-section of area churches will lead the prayers. Special music will be provided. “Please plan to join others from this community as we pray for our nation, our president, and other elected officials, our military, and the challenges facing our nation,” stated Barron Caulfield, for the National Day of Prayer Committee.
    In case of inclement weather this observance will be held in the Fellowship Hall of First Baptist Church.
    The Yalobusha Baptist Association National Day of Prayer meeting will be held in Sylva Rena Baptist Church May 1, beginning at 7 p.m.
    Bro. Jimmy Hood, Associational Music Director, will lead in praise and worship. Bro. Hood is pastor of Oakland Baptist Church. Bro. Shane Crawford, pastor of Sylva Rena Baptist Church, will be the guest speaker. Bro. Crawford recently moved to Water Valley from Nettleton. He surrendered to the ministry at the age of 17 and earned his undergraduate degree in Biblical Studies from Blue Mountain College and Master of Divinity from Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary. He is currently writing his doctoral dissertation for his PhD.

Sunday, May 4
    The New Life Church family will have their One Hundred Women in White Program May 4, beginning at three o’clock in the afternoon. The church is located at 10276 Kennedy Street, Coffeeville. Evangelist Regina Obrant will be the speaker for the day.
