Masonic Meeting Set For Thursday

    St. Cyr Commandery No. 6 will hold its next stated Conclave in the Masonic Temple on Champion Circle Thursday, April 24. Members are reminded that the meeting time has been changed to 7:30 p.m. until further notice. Take due notice thereof and govern yourselves accordingly. Please make an effort to attend, and support, your Commandery.

Annnual Iris Show Is May 3

    The 19th annual North Mississippi Lakes Iris Society’s Show will be held Saturday, May 3, from 1-4 p.m., in the First Christian Church Fellowship Hall, located at 1020 North Main Street, Water Valley. The show is open to the public and admission is free.

The Pickin’ Shed Plans Gospel Weekend Music, Karoake

    There will be live music at The Pickin’ Shed, located on Highway 9W at Banner, on Friday night, April 25, beginning at 7 p.m. Canaan’s Way from Bruce, the house band, The Ellis Family Bluegrass Gospel Band, and J. D. Long, will be singing. We will have a Southern Gospel Theme and TV 7 will be videoing Friday night. There will be a potluck meal at 6 p.m. each night and the public is invited.

High School Awards Day Is May 1

Water Valley High School Awards Day will be held on Thursday May 1, at 6:30 pm at the Civic Auditorium. Letters will be sent out this week to the students who will be participating in the ceremony.

Donations Needed For Oak Grove Cemetery
    Donations are needed for the upkeep of Oak Grove C.M.E. Church Cemetery. Everyone who has loved ones burried in this cemetery are urged to help with its upkeep. You may send your donations to: Oak Grove C.M.E. Church, P.O. Box 507, Water Valley, MS 38965.

Folson Sports Organization Schedules Talent Show

    A talent show will be held Saturday, May 3, in the Water Valley Civic Auditorium. Call 607-2192 by May 1 if you are interested in being in the show. This talent show is sponsored by the Freddie Folson Sports Organization.

Greater Sanders Chapel Hosts Benefit Day For Deacon

    Greater Sanders Chapel will host a benefit day for deacon Barron Matthews on April 26, starting at 10:30 a.m.
    There will be a horse riding club from Jackson present to let the children ride horses and there will also be games for them to play.
    Also, starting at 1 p.m., there will be basketball games from teens in the surrounding areas. All teams are asked to register with a $25 donation to help support this cause. Everyone’s support will be greatly appreciated.

Wrestling Promoters Bring ‘Scrappin’ In The Scrap Yard

    Maximum Championship Wrestling Superstars will present “Scrappin’ in the Scrap Yard.” This will be at Scott Aldridge Scrap Yard, Highway 32 East, Water Valley, Saturday, April 26, beginning at 3 p.m. Admission will be free and concessions will be sold. This will be an outside event, so those attending are ask to bring their own lawn chairs. For more information call (601) 562-0609.

Broadstreet Cemetery Group Schedules Annual Meeting

    The Broadstreet Cemetery Group will hold its annual meeting at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 27, in the cemetery. Please bring lawn chairs. Officers will be elected and a business report given. Those who read this notice are asked to contact family members, or others, who may not know of the meeting.

VFW Ladies Auxiliary Plans Officer Installation

    The Joe Willie Adams, Jr. Ladies Auxiliary to VFW Post 4100 will have an installation of officers for the 2014-2015 Year at two o’clock in the aftenoon Sunday, April 27. The public and members are invited to attend.
V.A. Medical Center Brings Mobile Health Clinic To Church
    The G.V. (Sonny) Montgomery VA Medical Center will set up a Mobile Health Clinic at Rocky Mt. M.B. Church, 1339 County Road 92, Water Valley, to provide health care services. VA benefits, and enrollment to veterans in the area on Saturday, April 26, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
    The following services will be available: Eligibility Determination, Registration, Enrollment in MyHealtheVet, Physical Exams, Patient Education,Vet Center Information, Benefits Information, Cemetery Information, Female Veterans Information, and many other services.
