Arts Council Schedules Meeting

    The Water Valley Arts Council will have its monthly meeting Tuesday, May 6, beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the Water Valley Main Street Office, 207 N. Main St., Water Valley. You don’t have to be a member to attend the meetings. Just come with community spirit, a sense of fun and with good ideas. For more info, call Ramona Bernard at 473-9851 or Bill Warren at 473-0972.

Valley City Lodge Sets Date For Next Stated Communication

    Valley City Lodge No. 402 F&AM will have its next stated Communication Thursday, May 1, in the Masonic Temple on Champion Circle, beginning at 7:30 p.m. All members are requested to be present. Take due notice thereof and support your local lodge during this new year.

Young Professionals Of Panola Host Sanctioned Talent Show

    The Young Professionals of Panola will host the 2nd Annual SpringFest Talent Contest on Saturday, May 17, at 10:30 a.m. in downtown Batesville. This event is a sanctioned Mid-South Fair Youth Talent Show Preliminary Contest and open to individuals and groups, ages 9-21.
    The winner will receive a paid entry into the 2014 Mid-South Fair Youth Talent Show Competition. Entry forms may be picked up at Panola Partnership on the square in Batesville, Family Pet Hospital, Panola Playhouse, or printed from the website, www.panolacounty.com/springfest-youth-talent-show. Entry fees are $35 for  solo act and $60 for  duo act. Acts of three or more must add $10 per person to the $60 duo fee. Each participant will receive a Batesville SpringFest shirt with entry. Mail-in registrations are due May 9. 

Annual Driver’s Flat Cemetery Day Is Saturday

    The annual Driver’s Flat Cemetery Day will be Saturday, May 3, beginning at 10:30 a.m. As always, there will be a potluck lunch in the Fellowship Hall of Driver’s Flat Church at noon. There will be a brief business meeting prior to the meal.
    The maintenance and upkeep of the cemetery is funded through donations from family, friends, or loved ones of those buried there, and these donations are greatly appreciated. Concerned citizens are urged to continue helping with the upkeep of the cemetery through your contributions to the Driver’s Flat Cemetery Fund. If you are unable to give toward the upkeep on Cemetery Day, you can send your donation any time to Buster Potts at 1911 Hwy. 315, Water Valley, MS 38965. If you have questions, please call 473-2488.
The 19th Annual Iris Show Is May 3 At First Christian Church
    The 19th annual North Mississippi Lakes Iris Society’s Show will be held Saturday, May 3, from 1-4 p.m., in the First Christian Church Fellowship Hall, located at 1020 North Main Street, Water Valley. The show is open to the public and admission is free.

High School Awards Day Is May 1

Water Valley High School Awards Day will be held on Thursday May 1, at 6:30 pm at the Civic Auditorium. Letters will be sent out this week to the students who will be participating in the ceremony.

Donations Needed For Oak Grove Cemetery

    Donations are needed for the upkeep of Oak Grove C.M.E. Church Cemetery. Everyone who has loved ones buried in this cemetery are urged to help with its upkeep. You may send your donations to: Oak Grove C.M.E. Church, P.O. Box 507, Water Valley, MS 38965.

Folson Sports Organization Schedules Talent Show

    A talent show will be held Saturday, May 3, in the Water Valley Civic Auditorium. Call 607-2192 by May 1 if you are interested in being in the show. This talent show is sponsored by the Freddie Folson Sports Organization.

Lions Club Host Pancake Breakfast

    The Water Valley Lions Club will host their first of the month Pancake Breakfast Saturday, May 3, from 6:30-9 a.m. in the Lions Depot Building on Main Street in Water Valley. The menu will be all you care to eat of pancakes, sausage, juice, and coffee. The cost will be $5 per plate. On this date Lion’s cheese will also be available for purchase.
    “Everyone is invited to come out and enjoy a delicious breakfast, some great fellowship, and purchase cheese to take home, all while helping to fund the many charitable projects of the club,” stated Head Chef Ernie Aune.

Broadstreet Cemetery Meeting Rescheduled To May 4

  The Broadstreet Cemetery meeting that was rained out on April 27 will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 4, at the cemetery. Please contact family members about the change.
