Getting Affairs In Order Is Topic At YHS Meeting

The Yalobusha Historical Society will meet Thursday, May 15 at 2 p.m. in its headquarters, the former Presbyterian Church building in Coffeeville. The speaker is Catherine V. “Ginny” Kilgore. Ginny is the Elder Law Project Director for North Mississippi Rural Legal Service, and her topic is “Get Your Papers in Order.”

Order Of Eastern Star Sets Date For May Meeting

    Water Valley Chapter No. 5, Order of Eastern Star, will have their regular meeting on Tuesday, May 13, beginning at 7:30 p.m. The meeting will be held in the Masonic Temple on Champion Circle. Members are asked to please make an effort to attend and support your local Chapter.

Blood Donor Coach Is Coming To Sylva Rena Church

  Sylva Rena Baptist Church is having a blood drive Sunday, May 18. The Mississippi Blood Services Donor Coach will be set up in the church parking lot from 12-4 p.m. “We encourage participation from everyone who is eligible to donate,” stated Rev. Oakland Auxiliary Club Plans Community Flea Market

    The Oakland Auxiliary Club is sponsoring a community flea market on June 7 from 7:30 a.m. until. Booth rentals are $10. Payment is required for set-up, and participants can keep all proceeds. For more information, contact Monica Hodges at (662) 607 6239.

Multiple Groups Will Perform At Gore Springs Gospel Jubilee

    A gospel music jubilee will be held at Gore Springs Community Center Saturday, May 10, beginning at 6 p.m. Admission will be $5.
    The jubilee will feature Bobby Hawkins, Still Blessed, Psalms Trio, and Magnolia Gospel. A concession stand with hamburgers, hotdogs, drinks, coffee, Popcorn, and home made deserts will be available. Come out and enjoy a night of good entertainment.

Masonic Chapters Schedule Joint Meeting

    McConico Chapter No. 96 RAM and J.J. Melton Council No. 50 R&SM will hold their next stated meetings on Thursday, April 10, in the Masonic Temple on Champion Circle.
    All members are hereby notified that the meeting time has been changed to 7:30  p.m. until further notice. All members are requested to make a special effort to attend.

Blue Devils Headed To North Half Semifinals

    The Blue Devil baseball team cruised through the second round of playoffs, defeating Booneville 7-4 and 4-0 last Thursday and Friday.
    Senior Cody Greer earned the win in the first game. Water Valley struck first in the bottom of the first inning with a single run. The Blue Devils scored six runs in the fourth inning for the victory.
    Junior Skyler Defer recorded the shutout in the second game. The Blue Devils were scoreless until the third inning. They scored again a single run in the fourth, fifth and seventh innings for 4-0 win.
    The team completed division play undefeated and didn’t have to compete in the first round of playoffs.
    The wins improve the team’s record to 24-6 as they advance to the North Half semifinals against Kossuth starting Friday.
