Midnight Run To Perform At Saturday Night VFW Dance

    The VFW Saturday night dance will be held May 17 and 31 from 8 p.m.-12 midnight. The dance will be held in the Post Home located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley.
    “Midnight Run” will be the band providing the music.

School Registration Is Thurs., May 23, and Tues., May 27

Registration for Water Valley High School and Davidson Elementary School for the 2014-2015 school year will be held May 23 and May 27 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The required documents are posted on the Water Valley School District website-www.wvsd.k12.ms.us or parents can stop by the school office for a registration packet.

Wrestling Returns To The Scrap Yard With Scrappin’ In The Yard

    Maximum Championship Wrestling Superstars will present Scrappin’ in the Scrap Yard Part 2 at M & A Recycling, LLC, Hwy. 32 East (next door to BorgWarner Automotive) Water Valley, Saturday, May 17, beginning at 5 p.m.
    Admission is free. Bring your lawn chair. Concessions will be sold.


Rummage Sale Benefits Orphaned Children

    “Hearts for the Innocent” will have a large rummage sale Saturday, May 17, from 7 a.m.-12 noon in the parking lot of the Water Valley First Assembly of God Church. There will be barbecue plates available from 11 a.m.- 2 p.m. All proceeds will benefit orphaned children. “Thanks you in advance for your support,” stated Amanda Haas.

Oakland Auxiliary Club Plans Community Flea Market

    The Oakland Auxiliary Club is sponsoring a community flea market on June 7 from 7:30 a.m. until. Booth rentals are $10. Payment is required for set-up, and participants can keep all proceeds. For more information, contact Monica Hodges at (662) 607 6239.

Getting Affairs In Order Is Topic At YHS Meeting

The Yalobusha Historical Society will meet Thursday, May 15 at 2 p.m. in its headquarters, the former Presbyterian Church building in Coffeeville. The speaker is Catherine V. “Ginny” Kilgore. Ginny is the Elder Law Project Director for North Mississippi Rural Legal Service, and her topic is “Get Your Papers in Order.”

Donations Needed For Oak Grove Cemetery

    Donations are needed for the upkeep of Oak Grove C.M.E. Church Cemetery. Everyone who has loved ones buried in this cemetery is urged to help with its upkeep. You may send your donations to: Oak Grove C.M.E. Church, P.O. Box 507, Water Valley, MS 38965.

Blood Donor Coach Is Coming To Sylva Rena Church

    Sylva Rena Baptist Church is having a blood drive Sunday, May 18. The Mississippi Blood Services Donor Coach will be set up in the church parking lot from 12-4 p.m. “We encourage participation from everyone who is eligible to donate,” stated Rev. Head Start Applications Are Being Taken Now

    All children, ages 3 and 4 years, and Early Head Start, 0 month-36 months, on or before September 1, are notified that applications are taken from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday-Friday. Early application increases the chance of your child attending Head Start in August if eligible.
    All intersted parents need to bring a copy of the following information upon registration:
  —Child’s certified birth certificate
  —Proof of income 2013 (W-2 form, check stub, Tax return, Agency Verification Statement (Notarized Letter, SSI statements, etc.)
  —Medicaid Card
  —Copy of last Medicaid Screening (if applicable)
  —Copy of child’s immunization record (Form 121)
  —Copy of child’s Social Security Card
    All interested parents can contact the Center at (662) 473-1552.
    Parents of children who are on the waiting list need to come by and update your information.
