Oakland Auxiliary Club Plans Community Flea Market

    The Oakland Auxiliary Club is sponsoring a community flea market on June 7 from 7:30 a.m. until. Booth rentals are $10. Payment is required for set-up, and participants can keep all proceeds. For more information, contact Monica Hodges at (662) 607 6239.

Classes Of 1953 And 1954 Schedule Joint Reunion

    The Water Valley High School Classes of 1953 and 1954 will hold a joint reunion on Saturday, August 2, in the Water Valley Country Club. The event will begin at 7 p.m.
    Attempts have been made to contact all class members, as well as spouses of deceased class members and persons who were members of these classes in earlier years, but did not graduate in 1953 or ‘54. If anyone was missed, who wants to attend, contact either Bob Brooks at (662) 473-2142, or Gaylon Booker at 473-4621, before July 1.


Valley City Lodge Sets Date For Next Stated Communication

Valley City Lodge # 402 F&AM will have it’s next stated communication on Thursday, June 5 at the Masonic Temple on Champion Circle beginning at 7:30 PM. All members are requested to be present. Take due notice thereof and support your local lodge during this new year.

Order Of Eastern Star Plans June Meeting

Water Valley Chapter No. 5 OES will have their regular meeting on Tuesday, June 10 at the Masonic Temple on Champion Circle beginning at 7:30 p.m. Members are asked to please make an effort to attend and support your local Chapter.

Delta Street Rods Offers Weekend Of Vintage Automobile Fun

The Mississippi Delta Street Rods will present their 30th annual Catfish Run car show, with exhibitions in Batesville and at Sardis Lake June 13-14. The vintage vehicle aficionados accept only cars and trucks manufactured before 1949. Their show is well-known among collectors throughout the region and among those who just like to see the shiny antique automobiles which are required to get to the show under their own steam.
The vehicles will be on display Friday night, June 13, at the Factory Stores at Batesville, and on Saturday, June 14 at Sardis Lake. At both events concessions will be available, barbecue on Friday and fried catfish on Saturday. Admission is free for those who want to view the cars and trucks.
Activities are planned Saturday at the lake for all ages, with drawings, door prizes and games.
Pre-registration for exhibitors is $30, or $35 the day of the show. For information call Darrell Martin at 561-5163.

Union Hill Missionary Department Plans Yard And Bake Sale

    The missionary department of Union Hill C.M.E. Church will have a combination Yard and Bake Sale Saturday, June 14, beginning at 6 a.m. This will be held under the old farmer’s market pavilion. All proceeds and donations will benefit the missionary department


The Animals Are Coming To Blackmur Memorial Library

    The Animals are coming to the Summer Reading Program at Blackmur Memorial Library. Parents are invited to bring kids of all ages to the library, where readers will read to them about a new animal and make crafts each Wednesday from 10 to 11:30 a.m.
    On June 18, featured will be pandas, and on June 25, Sea Turtles will be the featured animal. On July 2 Miss DEB WAZ of the Mississippi Museum of Natural Science in Jackson will visit and bring some special animal guests.
    On July 9, featured will be wolves; on July 16, will be polar bears; and on July 23, the featured animal will be penguins.
    There will be crafts, snacks and fun for everyone. A special adventure series reading will be provided for kids 10 years and older.
