With all the art that has been going up in recent weeks at local galleries, I have not yet gotten a chance to write about the current show at Yalo Studio on Main Street. It seems every weekend has been filled with art events at various venues in the area, and I could not fit it all in. However, I did not want to miss our telling you about this show by an artist I greatly admire.
Recent Work by Bradley Gordon is a colorful and bold exhibit showcasing his vibrantly colored paintings of wildlife. Raised in the Delta and currently living in Oxford, Gordon has developed a unique style of painting animals that has captured the attention of many.
His travels in Asia helped form esthetic, and he was recently featured in Garden and Gun magazine. He had a solo show in Oxford at the Powerhouse almost two years ago where his work flew off the walls and into people’s homes and collections.
Gordon creates these paintings in oil paint using chopsticks to create etchings and markings throughout the work. The texture, patterns and colors all unite to create powerful representations of animals such as turkeys, deer and turtles.
Animal lovers will be delighted with the personalities of the images created, and art lovers will be intrigued by how he renders the portraits.
As galleries are gearing down a bit for the summer, try and make your way to the gallery to see this show before it comes down.
