Presley Sets Public Hearing For Monday

WATER VALLEY – Public Service Commissioner Brandon Presley announced that he will hold a public hearing regarding Tallahatchie Valley Electric Power Association’s plans for a proposed substation in Yalobusha County that have been filed with the Public Service Commission.
    The public hearing will be held Monday, June 30,  at 6 p.m. in the Yalobusha County Courthouse, located at 201 Blackmur Drive in Water Valley.
    Customers affected by the proposed substation will be allowed to speak as public witnesses and have their comments placed on the official record.

History Of Enid Lake Program To Be Presented At VEC

ENID LAKE – The  Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks Visitor Education Center adjacent to Enid Lake will host the History of Enid Lake program on Saturday, June 21 at 2 p.m.
Mike Robinson, Supervisory Ranger for the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers at Enid Lake, will present a program on Enid Lake’s history. Working with the Corps since 1972, Mr. Robinson has written numerous articles about the lake’s construction and the history of the area.
The program is free with the price of admission. Admission is $2.50 for adults ages 18-59, and $2.00 for youth ages 3-17 and adults over the age of 60.

Sawmill Festival Golf Tournament Is July 12

 The Sawmill Festival Golf Tournament, “Freedom From Business” will be held Saturday, July 12, at Yoda Creek Golf Course in Bruce. The Tournament is sponsored by the Bruce Lions Club. Players will receive a Festival Cap, lunch, and a chance on a door prize. Prizes will be awarded in several categories. For more information call Yoda Creek at (662) 983-9632.

Annual Stewart Reunion Scheduled July 5

    The 35th annual Stewart Reunion will be held Saturday, July 5, in the First Christian Church Fellowship Hall, located at 1020 North Main and South Court Street in Water Valley. Members Urged To Attend June 26th Masonic Meeting

St Cyr Commandery No 6 will hold their next stated conclave at the Masonic Temple on Champion Circle in Water Valley on Thursday,  June 26 beginning at 7:30 p. m. All members are requested to take due notice thereof and make an effort to attend.

Deadline To Register For ServSafe Class Is June 27

The ServSafe Food Certification Class will be taught July 10, beginning at 7:30 a.m. The certification exam will begin around 4 p.m. and should be completed by 6 p.m.  The class will be held at the Yalobusha County Extension Service and the cost of the course is $135.

Color Guard Schedules Bake Sale

    The Water Valley High School Band Color Guard will have a bake sale Thursday, July 3, from 8 a.m. until all goodies are sold. The sale will be held in front of Larson’s Piggly Wiggly. Everyone is invited to come out and buy desserts for your Fourth of July activities, while helping the Color Guard with expenses for the coming year.

Saturday Night Music Returns To The VFW

    The Bobby Hood Band will provide the music for the regular VFW Saturday night dance on June 28. Dancing will be from 8 p.m. until midnight in the post home of VFW Post 4100, located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley. This band will be present each second and fourth Saturday night and on the first and third Saturday music will be by the Mid-Night Ramblers.
    “Everyone is invited to come out and enjoy dancing, or listing, to the music,” stated Commander James Gordon.

Classes Of 1953 And 1954 Schedule Joint Reunion

    The Water Valley High School classes of 1953 and 1954 will hold a joint reunion on Saturday, August 2, in the Water Valley Country Club. The event will begin at 7 p.m.
    Attempts have been made to contact all class members, as well as spouses of deceased class members and persons who were members of these classes in earlier years, but did not graduate in 1953 or ‘54. If anyone was missed, who wants to attend, contact either Bob Brooks at (662) 473-2142, or Gaylon Booker at 473-4621, before July 1.
