DES Open House, Registration Is Tuesday
Davidson Elementary School registration and open house will be held Tuesday, August 5, from 4-6 a.m.
All students, Kinder-garten-6th grades must register for the 2014-15 school year. When registering your child/children, you must provide the following:
Returning students must have a primary proof and a secondary proof. The primary proof must be either: a filed homestead exemption dated 2014, a mortgage document/property deed dated /stamped 2014 or apartment/home lease agreement dated between August 2013 and August 2014. The secondary proof must be either: a utility bill (electric bill, water, gas, or landline phone) within the past three months or an auto registration/tag renewal dated 2014.
Students transferring to the Water Valley School District must have: certified birth certificate, MS immunization form, social security card, report card from previous school, and a primary and secondary proof as stated above.

Children can be registered by parents or legal guardians only.
Open house will be Tuesday, August 5, from 4-6 p.m. Classes will begin Thursday, August 7.
Classes Plan Joint Reunion
WVHS classes of 1958 and 1961 will again host an annual get together for class members, their friends and families. Please make plans to attend between the hours of 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 2. Please try to be there at 12 noon for photograph opportunities. As in previous years, this informal reunion will be held in the North Main St. Church of Christ fellowship hall located on the corner of North Main and Wise Streets.
Snacks and soft drinks will be provided by class members. Volunteers are always appreciated. Bring old photos and memorabilia if you have some you would like to share. Organizers hope to see you there for a day of renewing old friendships in this cool and comfortable setting.
Class Of 1984 Needs Contact Info To Plan 30 Year Reunion
The Water Valley High School Class of 1984 is planning a 30 year class reunion. Contact information is needed on members of the class. Please call or text at (662) 473-6984 to give this information.

Jeff Davis School Reunion Is Saturday
The Jeff Davis School reunion will be held August 2 at Bethel Baptist Church in the fellowship hall, beginning at 6 p.m. All family and friends are invited. Please bring a covered dish.
Class Of 1979 Celebrates 35 Years Friday Night
The Water Valley High School Class of 1979 will have their 35-year class reunion during Watermelon Carnival weekend. The event will be held in D & D House of Barbecue, Main Street, Water Valley. Friday, August 1, beginning at 7 p.m. The reunion committee stated, “If you’re in town, we want to see you!”
Lions Club Serves Pancakes From 6 To 10 Saturday Morning
The regular monthly Lions Club pancake breakfast will be held Saturday, August 2, from 6-10 a.m. in the Depot Building on Main Street. The cost per plate will be $5 for all you care to eat of pancakes, sausage, juice, and coffee.
On this date a new supply of cheese will also be available.
“Everyone is invited to come out and enjoy a delicious breakfast, purchase some cheese, and enjoy lots of great fellowship,” stated Lion Ernie Aune.
All net proceeds benefit the many charitable projects of the Lions Club.
School Prayer Walk Is Sunday
The annual school prayer walk will be held Sunday, August 3, at Water Valley High School and Coffeeville High School, beginning at 2:30 p.m. “We will be praying for the students, parents, and staff of our school districts,” stated leaders, Jimmy Berry and Mrs. Marie Shields.
VFW Dance Is Saturday Night
The regular VFW Saturday night dance will be held from 8.p.m. until midnight August 2 in Post 4100’s Post Home, located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley. Providing music for dancing, or just listening, will be Mid-Night Run. Everyone is invited to come out and enjoy an evening of fun.
Arts Council Sets Meeting Date
The Water Valley Arts Council will have the monthly meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 5 at 6:30 p.m. at the Water Valley Main Street office, 207 North Main Street. Topics for discussion: The 6th annual Art Crawl, October fundraiser and more. You don’t have to be a member to attend the meetings. Come with good ideas and a sense of fun. Oakland Auxiliary Club Sponsors Flea Market
The Oakland Auxiliary Club will sponsor a Flea Market Saturday, August 2, beginning at 7:30 a.m. at the Walking Track in Oakland. Booth rentals are $10 and you keep all the proceeds. Multi-Class Reunion Planned In Conjunction With Festival
A multi-class reunion for WVHS alumni will be held Friday night, Aug. 1, beginning at 7 p.m. The gathering is being planned and hosted by a group of former students from the 60s. But, it is not just for the 60s classes, everyone is welcome with emphasize on the 50s, 60s and 70s. The gathering will be held in the “meeting room” building behind the Little Professionals Day Care at 521 North Court Street. There is plenty of parking and some RV hookups are available. The event will include a potluck supper, same as in the past. The food can be purchased or homemade.
Plates, ice, cups, cutlery, napkins will be furnished. If you can’t bring anything just bring yourself. Dress is very casual, according to planners.
