Oakland Auxiliary Club Plans November Fall Festival
The Oakland Auxiliary Club will host a fall festival Saturday, November 1, from 10 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. at three Oakland Recreational Parks. The vendor fee is $10 and there will be food and fun for everyone. Flowers Family Schedule Reunion At Enid Lake
The Flowers reunion will be held Sunday, August 31 (Labor Day weekend), beginning at 11 a.m. It will be held in the River View Area, below the levee of Enid Dam. All family and friends are invited to attend. For more information call T. J. Flowers at (662) 623-8695.
Art Crawl Is Next Month
The Water Valley Art Council’s 6th Annual Art Crawl is scheduled for Saturday, September 20, 5:30 – 9 pm. Artists, musicians, creative folks of every sort, this is our opportunity to shine a spotlight on you.

Moorman Will Speak On Denley Kinfolks At YHS Meeting
John Moorman is scheduled to speak at the Yalobusha Historical Society meeting on Thursday, Aug. 21 meeting at 2 p.m. in the former Coffeeville Presbyterian Church. John’s topic is “My Denley Kinfolks.”
Visitors are always welcome at the monthly meeting.
Pine Valley School Reunion Is Third Saturday In September
The Pine Valley School Community Center reunion will be held (as always) on the third Saturday of September, which will be September 20 this year. The reunion will be held in the Pine Valley Schoolhouse in the Pine Valley Community and will start at 10 a.m. Everyone is asked to bring a covered dish of their favorite food to be served at lunch, which will be served at noon. Everyone is encouraged to mark their calendar for this event. More details concerning the reunion will be provided at a later date.
Pickin’ Shed Schedules Live Music
There will be live music at The Pickin’ Shed, located on Highway 9W, Banner, on Friday night, August 22, beginning at 7 p.m. The House Band (including J.D. Long and Bill Bailey), The Ellis Family, and Steve McGregory (The Piano Man), along with other guests will perform.
Karaoke will be Saturday night, August 23, beginning at 7 p.m. There will be a potluck meal at 6 each night and the public is invited to attend both events.
Bobby Hood Band Performs At VFW Dance
The Bobby Hood Band will provide music for the regular VFW Saturday night dance on August 23. Dancing will be from 8 p.m. until midnight. The VFW Post Home is located at 11535 Highway 315, west of Water Valley. Everyone is invited to come out and enjoy dancing, or just listing, to the music.
Country Club Hosts Golf Scramble
Golfers looking to get in some competitive rounds of golf can take part in two upcoming golf scrambles at the Yalobusha Country Club. There is a two-person scramble scheduled for Aug. 23-24 at a cost of $60 at the YCC. For more information on the scrambles, contact Bebo Howell at (662) 473-2401.
